About This Connection Example
Introduction
This connection example tells you how to set up your Unity Pro project to establish
communications between an 140 NOE 771 11 communications module in a
Quantum PLC rack and an Advantys STB island with an STB NIP 2311 NIM.
Things to do in this example:
z Configure Unity Pro to use Advantys island I/O data (see page 211).
z Establish RTP and HMI-PLC communications (see page 219).
z Enable RSTP (see page 222)
z Store an island configuration on a removable memory (SIM) card (see page 224).
Before You Begin
Here are some characteristics of this example:
z Communication between the network and the Advantys island is through an
STB NIP 2311 NIM.
z A Quantum CPU 534 14A is implemented as the master.
z The Quantum CPU is upgraded to Unity 2.50 firmware.
z A 140 NOE 771 11 Ethernet communication module sends messages between
the Quantum CPU and the network.
z Unity Pro version 4.5.x.x is installed and used with the Advantys configuration
SW (4.1.x) that comes with it.
Connection Figure
This shows the Ethernet connections for this example:
1 A Quantum PLC. The port in the 140 NOE 771 11 module is at IP address 192.168.1.4.
2 An Ethernet managed switch.
3 A PC at IP address 192.168.1.99. It includes an Ethernet card, Advantys Configuration
Software, and Unity Pro configuration software.
4 An Advantys island with an STB NIP 2311 NIM with a port at IP address 192.168.1.16.
