Configuring SNMP Agent Settings
Configure the STB NIP 2311 SNMP agent settings after you have accessed the
module’s embedded web pages (see page 145):
Step Action
1 Click on the Setup menu command to open the Setup page.
2 Select SNMP to the left to open the SNMP Agent Configuration page.
3In the Manager’s IP Address section, enter these values:
z Manager 1: The first SNMP manager’s IP address, consists of four octet
decimal values (0...255)
z Manager 2: This is the second SNMP manager’s IP address.
NOTE: The first octet value of each SNMP manager IP addresses must be in the
range 1...126 or 128...223.
4 The following Agent fields are read-only ASCII strings:
z System Name: This user-defined string describes the STB NIP 2311.
z System Location: This string describes the location of the STB NIP 2311.
z System Contact: This string identifies the contact person for the
STB NIP 2311.
NOTE: These case-sensitive strings have a maximum length of 32 characters.
5In the Community Names section, enter passwords for Get, Set, and Trap.
(They can be empty.)
NOTE: The maximum password length is 16 printable ASCII characters. The
default setting for each community name is public.
6 In the Enabled Traps section, select one or more of the following traps to enable
SNMP agent reporting of that trap; de-select a trap to disable reporting:
z Cold Start Trap: The agent is re-initializing and its configuration may be
altered.
z Link Down Trap: One of the agent’s communication links has turned off.
z Link Up Trap: One of the agent’s communication links has turned on.
z Authentication Failure Trap: The agent received a request from an
unauthorized manager.
7 Click one of the following:
z Apply: Save your edits.
z Undo: Clear the page without saving your edits.
