40 CAT5/5e KVM Extender Range
Baud Rate
You can set the baud rate for serial communication across the extender system
at 19200, 9600 (the default) or 1200 baud. All Local Units are supplied to
accept a baud rate of either 9600 or 19200. No configuration of the Local Unit
is required unless you want to operate at 1200 baud (see below).
Changing the Baud Rate to 19200/9600
All Remote Units are supplied with the baud rate preset at 9600. Use this
procedure if you want to change the baud rate to 19200, or reset it to 9600 after
operating at another setting.
1. Locate the Baud Rate jumper block in the Remote Unit.
2. Set the jumper to the required setting as shown in Figure 19.
3. If the extender system has been operating at 1200, locate the Baud Rate
jumper block in the Local Unit and remove the jumper as shown in Figure
20.

Changing the Baud Rate to 1200
If you want to use the serial extension for a mouse device such as an industrial
trackball you may want to change the baud rate to 1200. To do this:
1. Locate the Baud Rate jumper block in the Local Unit.
2. Place the jumper over the posts as shown in Figure 20.
3. Set the hardware flow control jumpers in both Local and Remote Units to
RTS/CTS Flow Control Across CAT5 Link as described on the next page.
This mode will support most, but not all, serial mouse and trackball devices.
