3. SCANNER UNIT

3.1 SCANNER UNIT REMOVAL

CAUTION

Before beginning this installation procedure, be sure to remove the

ARDF. If the scanner unit is opened with the ARDF installed, the

machine may fall over.

First, remove the Exposure Glass Upper Covers, Operation Panel, Right

Covers, and Left Covers (see procedures 1.4, 1.5, 1.6, 1.7, 1.8).

1. Remove 4 screws [A and B].

2. Open the Scanner Unit [C] and set the Stopper Bar [D], as shown.

CAUTION

1. Part [E] of the scanner unit maybe very hot.

2. When opening the scanner unit do not use excessive force. The

stopper wire [F] may pull the machine and cause it to fall over.

3. While removing the scanner unit take care not to jar or move the

stopper bar.

3. Remove stopper wire [F] (1screw [G]).

4. Lower stopper bar [D] and carefully lower scanner unit.

5. Remove left hinge [H] and right hinge [I] (5 screws).

6. Disconnect the two connectors and one grounding wire.

7. Carefully lift and remove scanner unit from copier.
