User Authentic ation:
The printer
supports several types of end-user
authentication:
User Code Auth entic ation:
Up to
500 User Codes can be registered for
authentication. Users must enter a pre-
assigned code up to 8 digits in the
printer driver to gain access to the
device. Codes may be assigned to
individuals to allow/deny specific
printer or feature use, or the same
code may be used by more than one
user to track system usage by client or
department for accounting purposes,
for example.
STAN D ARD FE ATURE
Ba sic Authentic ation:
Uses information stored in the printer's Address Book to authenticate
each user. Administrators must register users and specify the functions available to each user in
the Address Book.
R EQUIRES HDD
LDAP Authentic ation:
Validates end users against data stored on an external Lightweight
Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) server used for E-mail communications. If a user's LDAP account
cannot be found, that user cannot print to that device.
R E QUIR ES HDD
Win dows Au thentic ation:
Matches user names and passwords against those stored in other
enterprise Windows directories for device access. Excellent for large enterprises and those with
more advanced data security needs.
R EQUIRES HDD
Job Log s an d Access Log s:
Printer job history is stored at the device, and may be viewed via Web
Image Monitor or SmartDeviceMonitor to track and trace system usage by job and user. Access logs
store information about user access history, stored files, and administrator and service procedures.
