PDF Direct Print (Portable Document Format) Support
The Savin CLP37DN/CLP42DN
supports the PDF Direct Print function.
This feature enables the printer to
receive and then print a PDF file
directly from a PC without launching
Adobe Acrobat or spooling a print job
on the host PC.
PDF is popular because it offers
consistent document appearance on
all platforms and retains a compact file
format. It's like taking a snapshot of a
larger graphic file. However, when
users print a PDF file from their PC, it
must first spool on their system. When
a PDF file is converted to printable
data, file size increases significantly;
for example, a 325KB PDF file expands
to 2.2MB file when printed through the
Windows printer driver. When PDF
Direct Print is used, the file is output
with the same image quality, but the
file size never expands beyond the
compressed 325KB PDF file size,
minimizing network traffic and
speeding file processing.
