Fonts
Fonts are sets of rules that instruct a printer to draw text characters in a specific style.
The Savin CLP37DN/CLP42DN reserves space in its memory to store a number of
font packages for use with its PCL 5c, PCL 6, and PostScript 3 PDLs and printer
drivers. Storing font data at the device speeds printing by eliminating the need for the
printer to "reach back" to the sending PC to request the font data to draw each
character. The Savin CLP37DN/CLP42DN ships with 1

In addition, all devices employing the Savin Controller Architecture also
include a set of 13
3 Intern ation al fonts
(Greek, Hebrew,
Cyrillic/Russian, Japanese, Arabic, and more) that enable printing in
languages using other alphabets – a great solution for multinational
companies that need to translate and print documents for publication in
local markets across Eastern Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.
Drivers
Printer drivers are the dialog screens and drop-down windows through which connected users select print
commands for each job. Features are usually organized into tabs that group together related functions for job
quantity/setup, paper type, image quality, finishing selections (if any), watermarks, and other document
characteristics. Thus, the file is delivered exactly how the user desires. Driver screens and available functions
may vary based upon the selected PDL and the active network operating system.
Several examples of various PostScript driver screens are pictured on the next page. PCL 5c and PCL 6 driver
screens look very similar to the PS3 driver.
