Optional Interfaces
For greater connectivity flexibility, customers may install one of the following optional interfaces to meet their
unique connectivity requirements. Note that the Gigabit Ethernet interface option must be substituted for the
standard 10/100BaseTX interface card, but it includes its own USB 2.0 interface.
Option Customer Benefits
Gigabit Ethernet Type A
• Maximum distance between devices is
328 feet (100 meters) for Ethernet, 16
feet (5 meters) for USB 2.0.
• Supports 480 Mbps and 12 Mbps
speeds for USB connection.
Supports today’s fastest possible data transfer speed of
1000 Mbps in addition to 10 Mbps and 100 Mbps
connectivity.
Excellent connectivity solution for environments with
large files, such as thousands of host print records.
Automatically selects the proper data transfer speed.
Disables the standard Ethernet and USB ports, but this
board supplies its own USB 2.0 port.
IEEE 1284/ECP Parallel Interface
• Provides for direct connection to a PC via
a parallel cable.
• Maximum distance between devices is 8
feet (2.5 meters).
Allows users of older PC technology to connect to
current technology via a standard bi-directional parallel
interface.
Data transmission speeds will be slower, but the
availability of the IEEE 1284 interface extends the life of
legacy computer hardware while taking advantage of
the latest printing solutions.
