, the Savin CLP42DN
is Savin's premier desktop color laser printing solution for larger corporate workgroups,
government, and military customers with high quality color output needs tied to strict
data security, compliance, and/or device access requirements.
Like its sister model, the Savin CLP42DN is an excellent choice for busy offices with
growing volume, image quality, and media requirements up to 8.5" x 14". It shares all
the same media, image quality, networking/connectivity features, and supplies as the
Savin CLP37DN. Primary differences are:
1. Print engine speed i s increas ed to 42- ppm.
Along with this boost in speed comes an increase
in the minimal supported volume for this engine: from 5,000 to 20,000 prints/month. This is a simple
function of math through its ability to produce 5 more prints per minute. The maximum duty cycle
remains 150,000 print/month for both models with an average workgroup size of 5 – 15 or more end
users. Remember, it's volume, not head counts that count!
2. Additional memo ry and software hav e been added
to the standard configuration to enable a
number of advanced security features. While employing the same 600 MHz CPU and Savin Controller
Architecture, the Savin CLP42DN adds another 384 MB RAM, an 80 GB Hard Disk Drive, and a VM
Card loaded with the software to enable the E
Enh ance d Locked Prin t-N X (E L P-NX ) function
as a
standard capability. The presence of the HDD gives rise to all the user authentication and security tools
available on other devices built on the Savin Controller Architecture, but in this case it is the additional
RAM and software on the VM Card that take data security to the next level with ELP-NX in the Savin
CLP42DN.
3. Th e US B 2. 0 Type A interf ace can be u se d to i nstall an ex ternal
car d reade r
for swiping employee magnetic stripe identification cards
prior to accessing the printer. A Card Authentication Package with all the
necessary hardware is available as an option for this model.
For these reasons, the Savin CLP42DN is positioned as Savin's "Easy Security" solution. The Savin CLP42DN
maintains the low total cost of ownership/value positioning of the Savin CLP37DN. It offers the same CPP
factors of 5.1¢ for Full-color pages and 1.0¢ Black & White pages. It also supports the Economy Color Mode.
