Step 4 Fasten the ENDS (A and B) to the TOP (C). Tighten four TWIST-LOCK® FASTENERS. å Caution Do not stand the unit upright without the BACK fastened. The unit may collapse. How to use the SAUDER TWIST-LOCK® FASTENER 1. Insert the dowel end of the FASTENER into the hole of the adjoining part. NOTE: The dowel end of the FASTENER must remain fully inserted in the hole of the adjoining part while locking the FASTENER. 2. Tighten the FASTENER with a Phillips screwdriver as tight as possible.
Step 5 å Using your hammer, tap two MOLDING CONNECTORS (17F) into the notches in the TOP MOLDING (K). å Then, fasten the TOP MOLDING (K) to the TOP (C). Tighten two HIDDEN CAMS. 1 Flat end 2 17F Flat end 17F K K C www.sauder.
Step 6 å Insert two WOOD DOWELS (15F) into the FRONT LEGS (G and H). å Fasten the FRONT LEGS (G and H) to the ENDS (A and B). Tighten twelve HIDDEN CAMS. å NOTE: Be sure the WOOD DOWELS in the LEGS insert into the holes in the ENDS. å Using your hammer, gently tap the FRONT LEGS (G and H) onto the MOLDING CONNECTORS in the TOP MOLDING (K). Don't worry. It isn't Rome. This can be built in a day.
Step 7 å å å å Slide the BOTTOM MOLDING* (L) onto the notched edge of one of the SHELF/BOTTOMS (D). å *U.S. Patent No. 5,499,886 Slide an ADJUSTABLE SHELF MOLDING* (M) onto the other SHELF/BOTTOM (D). Repeat this step for the ADJUSTABLE SHELVES (E and J) and the remaining ADJUSTABLE SHELF MOLDINGS (M). NOTE: The top edge of the ADJUSTABLE SHELF MOLDINGS should be even with the top surfaces of the SHELF/BOTTOMS and ADJUSTABLE SHELVES.
Step 8 å NOTE: Place the SHELF/BOTTOM (D) with the ADJUSTABLE SHELF MOLDING (M) first and then the SHELF/BOTTOM (D) with BOTTOM MOLDING (L) in positon before tightening the TWIST-LOCK® FASTENERS. å Fasten the SHELF/BOTTOMS (D) to the ENDS (A and B). Step 9 å Fasten the EXTENSION BLOCK (O) to the SHELF/ BOTTOM (D). Use two BROWN 1-5/8" FLAT HEAD SCREWS (55S) into the exact holes shown. å Insert the DOOR STOPS (4I) into the center holes on the EXTENSION BLOCK (O). 4I Finished surface O D 55S BROWN 1-5/8" FLAT HEAD SCREW (2 used in this step) www.sauder.
Step 10 å Carefully turn your unit over onto its front edges. Unfold the BACK (F) and lay it over your unit. å Make equal margins along all four edges of the BACK (F). Push on opposite corners of your unit if needed to make it "square". å å Fasten the BACK (F) to your unit using the NAILS (1N). å Caution Do not stand the unit upright without the BACK fastened. The unit may collapse. NOTE: Be sure to tap NAILS into the holes that line up over the SHELF/BOTTOM (D).
Step 11 å Fasten two HINGES (14H) to each DOOR (N). Use eight BLACK 1/2" FLAT HEAD SCREWS (11S). 11S BLACK 1/2” FLAT HEAD SCREW (8 used in this step) 14H N N 14H www.sauder.
Step 12 å å Carefully stand your unit upright. å Fasten a DOOR (N) to the LEFT END (B) as shown in the lower diagram. Use the screws in the HINGES. You should start each SCREW a few turns before completely tightening any of them. å Fasten the DOOR MOLDING (P) to the DOOR (N). Use two BLACK 1" PAN HEAD SCREWS (60S). å Fasten a KNOB (28K) to the DOOR (N). Use a SILVER 1-1/2" MACHINE SCREW (95S) through the DOOR, through the DOOR MOLDING, and into the KNOB. å å Repeat this step for the other DOOR (N).
Step 13 å Refer to the enlarged diagram to identify the parts on the HINGES. å The DOORS may need some adjustments. Follow the text below to make needed adjustments. å DOOR ADJUSTMENTS: To adjust the DOORS from side to side (horizontal), turn the adjusting screw in or out. å To adjust the DOORS up and down (vertical), loosen both vertical adjustment screws. Move the DOORS up or down to the desired location. Tighten the screws after making adjustments.
Step 14 å å IMPORTANT: This unit must be positioned against a wall. å We recommend using the SAFETY BRACKET (1G) for added stability. Use a BLACK 9/16" LARGE HEAD SCREW (1S) into the top of the unit and a BLACK 1-7/8" PAN HEAD SCREW (16S) into a stud in your wall. å å å Push a CAM COVER (13P) onto each visible HIDDEN CAM. Push the RUBBER SLEEVES (2R) over the METAL PINS (1R). Insert the METAL PINS into the hole locations of your choice in the ENDS (A and B).
