Command Structure
<ESC>#Ea
a = Print darkness value
a = 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5
Example: <ESC>#E2
Placement: Must be placed immediately after <ESC>A
and immediately before <ESC>Z in its own
separate data stream
Default: 2
Command Function
To specify a new print darkness setting. This command allows
software control of the darkness setting for unique media and
ribbon combinations.

Printer Output
There is no printer output for this command.
Special Notes
1. This becomes the new setting in the printer configuration
for all subsequent print jobs, unless changed. The setting
is stored in non-volatile memory and is not affected by
cycling power.
2. 1 is the minimum darkness setting, and 5 is the maxi-
mum darkness setting.
3. This command adjusts the print darkness in discrete
steps. The range of this command is set using the
<ESC>CD Print Darkness Fine Adjustment command,
(See page 100). Changing the Print Darkness Fine Adju-
stment setting will affect this command.
