SYMPTOMS
POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS CAUSE
Sleep timer is set.

TV station stopped broadcasting. Tune new channel.
Set Sleep Timer to "0".
TV station experiencing problems or
program tuned is not closed
captions.
Try another channel.
Check CATV connection of VHF/
UHF antenna, reposition or rotate
antenna.
TV signal is weak.

Press the TV/CAP/TEXT button to
turn on the closed caption.
The TV/CAP/TEXT button is not
depressed.
The video cassette's erase
prevention tab is broken off.
Place a piece of vinyl tape over
the hole.
RECORDING
Reset the present time.
The time is not set correctly.
The recording start/end time is not
set correctly.
Reset the start/end time.
Press the TIMER REC button (the
T-REC indicator is lit.).
The TIMER REC button has not
been pressed (the T-REC indicator is
not lit.).
PLAYBACK
Tape is old or worn.
Replace the tape.
Adjust tracking manually using the
SET/TRACKING +/– buttons on
the remote control.
Tracking adjustment is beyond range
of automatic tracking circuit.
Clean the video heads.
Video heads are dirty.
Aim the remote control at the
remote sensor.
The remote control is not aimed at
the sensor.
Distance is too far or too much light
in the room.
Operate within 15 feet or reduce
the light of the room.
There is an obstacle in the path of
