Pandora-the basics
Pandora is an automated music recommendation and Internet
radio service created by the Music Genome Project. It has millions
of tracks available which you can access using your radio, your
computer and other devices. Users enter a song or artist that they
enjoy, and the service responds by playing selections that are
musically similar. This can introduce you to a new range of artists and
tracks which you will probably enjoy but which you may never have
heard before.
Before you can use Pandora with your radio, you will need to have
created an account at Pandora web site. You can then start to listen
to radio stations initially based on particular artists or tags/ genres.
Pandora is available on various platforms and computer media
players. Any personalization that you make to your account from one
platform are reected on the others.
Love / Ban features
Each track played can be responded to with favorable (thumbs up)
or unfavorable (thumbs down) buttons, which determine if it should
be played, and how much similarly classied songs should be
played in the station. A second negative response to the same
artist will ban that artist from the selected station, unless the user
has marked the artist positively on another occasion. No response
is applicable to musical attributes or to albums. An unfavorable
response immediately stops play of the track.
User accounts
In order to use the Pandora service with your radio, you must either
create a Pandora account or already have one set up. This account
keeps track of your musical preferences and listening choices and is
what makes the music offered by Pandora personal to you. Setting up an
account is simple and is done via the Pandora web site.
The radio allows more than one set of Pandora account details to be
entered. If the unit is used by more than one person, it is possible to
choose which account is used when listening to Pandora.
The features of the Pandora service are only available on the radio with
a subscription to Pandora. This may differ from the range of features
available when accessing the Pandora service from a computer or any
other device. The provision of the Pandora service and the features
offered with and without subscription are subject to terms and conditions
set out on the Pandora web site.
