4. Boring
Case two: Boom bracket
A customer producing boom brackets used a tailored boring bar
with positive inserts for his application. He experienced vibration,
poor surface nish and short insert tool life, even with low cutting
data. The component was positioned horizontally and the operation
included interrupted cuts.
By changing to a CoroBore 825 nish tool, the cutting data could
be increased as well as the component quality. The customer could
double his output, going from 600 components in 2011 to 1,200 in
2012.
