Olympus 2GB xD Picture Card Type M
Olympus
xD Picture Cards, (xD stands for "extreme digital"), are ultra-compact memory cards, developed by Fujifilm and
Olympus specifically for use in digital cameras. Olympus xD cards offer capacities ranging from 256MB to
2GB. The 2GB xD cards were released in September 2006 and are now in stock.
With a data-storage capacity of 2GB, the M-XD2GM card has the largest memory in the xD-Picture Card™ range to
date.
The development of advanced video-recording functions in digital cameras, alongside the desire for higher digital
picture quality, is driving demand for digital camera memory media with greater data-storage capacities and higher
performance. The Olympus M-XD2GM Type M-series xD-Picture Card™ packs 2GB of memory in to an
ultra-compact media card measuring just 25.0 (W) x20.0 (H) x1.7mm (D) in size.
Using an 8 mega-pixel Olympus digital camera in HQ mode, the card will enable user to take and store
approximately 1000 shots.
The Olympus xD-Picture Card™ not only supports the exclusive Olympus Panorama option, by inputting the
access code to the Olympus Master software (Version 1.4 or later) the popular 3D, oil painting, watercolour &
cartoon art effect functions become possible. A pair of 3D glasses are even included in all purchases of the 2GB
Type M xD cards!
The M-XD2GM has been designed using the latest high-capacity storage technology, based on the Multi-Level Cell,
an advanced technology that will be used to develop all capacities of the xD-Picture Card™ Type M series.
Type H and Type M xD cards are more recent additions to the original xD Picture Cards. The new card uses
high-density MLC (Multi Level Cell) memory technology to achieve its 2GB storage capacity, which it packs into a
compact 20mm x 25mm x 1.7mm form. Storage capacity is predicted to continue growing and MLC technology has
the potential to deliver up to 8GB of storage capacity in a single card.
These Olympus 2GB Type M cards offer higher performance and meet the demands of new camera technologies
that deliver larger image files and have the ability to record high-quality movie footage. As well as the potential for
large capacities, xD picture cards have a high read/write performance and are only 2 grams in weight.
xD-Picture Cards Type M and Type H enable high storage capacities to be achieved at lower cost per megabyte.
Using new, compressed methods of digital data storage, higher capacities are achievable with minimal impact on
read and write times. Types M and H xD cards use different methods of digital encoding, however, their identical
operating specifications make them fully interchangeable.
Olympus xD cards are the only xD cards that support the exclusive Olympus Panorama, 3D and
Art Functions.
NOTE: Owners of Older Fuji and Olympus Digital Cameras should check you Cameras Specifications to ensure
your camera can support the new 2GB XD Cards. The M-XD2GM does not work with all digital camera models.

All Olympus xD cards are compatible with Fuji xD digital cameras. Olympus xD-Picture Cards - the most
advanced digital media cards ever for the best digital images yet!
Important: DO NOT format, copy files to or erase pictures from an xD card via a card
reader/writer connected to a computer.  This should only be done via the camera connected directly to
a computer. xD-Picture cards are specially formatted with certain proprietary tags and flags. Formatting or
otherwise altering the contents of the card via a card reader/writer connected to a computer will render the card
unusable in a camera or erase the special Olympus signature to enable panoramic mode.
