FujiFilm 1GB xD Picture Card Type M (Olympus Compatible)
Fuji Film
xD Picture Cards, (xD stands for "extreme digital"), are ultra-compact memory cards, developed by Fujifilm and
Olympus specifically for use in digital cameras. Fuji xD cards offer capacities ranging from 256MB to 2GB. The
Type M xD-Picture Cards are compatible with Fujifilm's latest range of compact digital cameras and all future
models launched. Type H and Type M xD cards are more recent additions to the original xD Picture
Cards. The new card uses high-density MLC (Multi Level Cell) memory technology to achieve its 1GB storage
capacity, which it packs into a compact 20mm x 25mm x 1.7mm form. Storage capacity is predicted to continue
growing and MLC technology has the potential to deliver up to 8GB of storage capacity in a single card.
These Type M cards offer higher performance and meet the demands of new camera technologies that deliver
larger image files and have the ability to record high-quality movie footage. As well as the potential for large
capacities, xD picture cards have a high read/write performance and are only 2 grams in weight.
xD-Picture Cards Type M and Type H enable high storage capacities to be achieved at lower cost per megabyte.
Using new, compressed methods of digital data storage, higher capacities are achievable with minimal impact on
read and write times. Types M and H xD cards use different methods of digital encoding, however, their identical
operating specifications make them fully interchangeable.
NOTE: Owners of Older Fuji and Olympus Digital Cameras should check you Cameras Specifications to ensure
your camera can support the new Type M XD Cards.
