1.4 Programming
The OfficeServ 100 system arrives from the factory with default data.
Connect it to trunks, stations and power. Turn the system on and it is fully operational.
The only thing left to do is customize the data to fit the customer’s needs. This is called
programming the system.
MMC stands for Man Machine Communication and each program is assigned a different
three digit code(e.g., 100). These MMC codes are used to view, create or change customer
data. Programming is simply deciding what needs to be done and knowing which MMC is
used to do it. For example: use MMC 601 to designate a station group; enter system speed
dial numbers in MMC 705.
The OfficeServ 100 is a self-configuring system. This means that immediately after
applying power, the OfficeServ 100 reads the types and locations of all installed interface
cards and phones and assigns default data to them. This data provides for system operation
within a few minutes after applying power. This numbering LAN is flexible and may be
changed to suit customer requirements. The installing technician customizes this default
data to meet the end user’s requirements.
The system can be programmed from any LCD display phone without interrupting system
operation. There are three levels of programming: technician, customer and station.
The technician level has access to all programs and can allow the customer access to
system programs as needed. Technician and customer access levels are controlled by a
different security passcodes and access procedure.
The OfficeServ 100 also allows the use of a proprietary computer program called DPAP-
PCMMC. This permits a technician to program the system using a personal computer.
DPAP-PCMMC can be used on-site to modify the customer database or to download(save)
the entire customer database to a file. This file can then be saved as a backup and be
uploaded when required to restore the database.
Through the use of modems, DPAP-PCMMC can access the OfficeServ 100 system
remotely(off-site) to make database changes or perform uploads or downloads of the
customer database as if the technician were on-site.
