Printer Does Not Print

Symptom

The READY button on the

front of the printer does not

turn the lamp on.

Cause and Solution

¥ Make sure that the power cord is firmly attached at the

back of your SmartJet and at the electrical outlet.

¥ Make sure that the electrical outlet is working.

Printer power is on, but

nothing prints (no action

from the printer).

¥ The printer is improperly connected to the computer. Make

sure the printer cable is firmly connected to the printer and

the computer.

¥ Make sure that the printer cable is IEEE 1284-compliant

bi-directional parallel interface cable.

¥ Bad printer cable, or computer port. Try another cable.

¥ Make sure that your application has the SmartJet selected as

the default printer.

¥ Make sure that there is paper in the automatic paper feeder.

¥ Check Print Manager.

¥ Try changing ports.

¥ Make sure that your selected port is not being used by

another device.

¥ Make sure that the paper path is not blocked.
