High power consumption has been often pointed out as a big weakness of Plasma Monitor dis-
play. However, that problem cannot be improved any further in the conventional cell structure of
Plasma Monitor. To deal with that, Samsung changed the whole panel structure from rectangular to octagonal
cells, resulting in greatly advanced luminous efficiency. The highest brightness of 1500cd/m2 and contrast ratio
of 10,000:1 have been achieved by cell structure innovation. The luminous efficiency has been also increased,
providing excellent pictures with lower power consumption.
