HM1700_UM_NA.indb 7 English Charging the headset This headset has a rechargeable internal battery which is non-removable. Make sure the headset is fully charged before using it for the first time. To check the battery level see page 8. 1 Connect the charger to the charger jack. 2 Plug the charger in to the wall outlet. During charging, the indicator light will turn red. If charging does not begin, unplug the travel adapter and plug it in again.
When the headset battery is low The headset beeps and the indicator light flashes red. To charge the battery, see page 7. If the headset powers off during a call, the call will be automatically transferred to the phone. Checking the battery level To check the battery level, press and hold the Volume down button and the Talk button at the same time.
English Wearing the headset Place the headset on your ear. Depending on which ear you are going to wear the headset, simply adjust the ear hook accordingly. You can also use the optional earpiece cushions instead of the ear hook. Remove the earpiece cover and attach the earpiece cushion. Then, rotate the earpiece cushion left or right slightly depending on which ear you are going to wear the headset. If it does not fit your ear, replace it with the other. HM1700_UM_NA.
Using your headset This section explains how to turn the headset on, pair and connect to the phone, and use various functions. • Activated functions and features may differ depending on the phone type. • Some devices, especially those that are not tested or approved by Bluetooth SIG, may be incompatible with your headset.
English Turning the headset on or off To turn the headset on • Slide up the power switch. The blue indicator light flashes 4 times and you will hear “Power on”. To turn the headset off • Slide down the power switch. The indicator light flashes blue and red then turns off and you will hear “Power off”. Using voice prompts Voice prompts will inform you about the current status of the headset and usage instructions. If you can't hear any voice prompt, make sure the voice prompt feature is turned on.
Changing the language for the voice prompt The headset provides following these languages: English, Spanish. The default setting is English. • In Pairing mode, press and hold both volume buttons simultaneously to select language. Turning the voice prompt on or off To turn voice prompts on In Pairing mode, press and hold the Volume up button for 3 seconds to turn the Voice prompt on. The blue indicator light flashes 2 times. You will here “Ready to Pair, Pin code is 0000” repeatedly from your headset.

Pairing and connecting the headset Pairing means unique and encrypted wireless connection between two Bluetooth devices when they agree to communicate with each other. In Pairing mode, two devices should be placed close enough to each other. Pairing and connecting the headset with a phone 1 Enter Pairing mode. • With the headset turned on, press and hold the Talk button for 3 seconds. The blue indicator light stays lit and you will hear “Ready to pair. Pin code is 0000”.
Activate the Bluetooth feature on your phone and search for the headset (see your phone’s user manual). 3 Select the headset (HM1700) from the list of devices found by your phone. 4 If requested, enter the Bluetooth PIN 0000 (4 zeros) to pair and connect the headset to your phone. English 2 • Your headset supports the Simple Pairing feature which allows the headset to be paired with a Bluetooth device without requesting a PIN.
Connecting with two Bluetooth phones With the Multi-point feature activated, your headset can be connected to 2 Bluetooth phones at the same time. 1 Connect with the first Bluetooth phone. 2 Press and hold the Talk button for 3 seconds to enter Pairing mode. 3 Press and hold the Volume up button to activate Multi-point feature. 4 Activate the Bluetooth feature on the second Bluetooth phone and search for the headset (see your phone’s user manual).
To turn Multi-point feature off In Pairing mode, press and hold the Volume down button. The red indicator light flashes 2 times. English To turn Multi-point feature on In Pairing mode, press and hold the Volume up button. The blue indicator light flashes 2 times. Connecting the headset with a music device You can also pair and connect your headset with a music device such as an MP3 player. The way is same as phones.
Disconnecting the headset Turn off the headset or use the Bluetooth menu on your phone to remove the device from your pairing list. Reconnecting the headset To reconnect to the paired phone • Press the Talk button on the headset or use the Bluetooth menu on your phone. To reconnect to the music device • Press and hold the Volume up button on the headset or use the Bluetooth menu on your music device. Your headset will attempt to automatically reconnect each time you turn it on.

• When the headset pairs with your phone, a connection is made through the Hands‑Free Profile. To make a connection through another profile, such as Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP), check the phone’s user manual on how to pair the Bluetooth device. Using call functions Available call functions may vary depending on the phone. Making a call Dialing a number by voice Press the Talk button and say a name. • This function is only available on the primary phone using the Hands-Free profile.
English Redialing the latest number To redial the latest number on the primary phone: • Press and hold the Talk button. To redial the latest number on the secondary phone: • Press the Talk button twice. For some phones, pressing the Talk button opens the call log list. Press the Talk button again to dial the selected number. Answering a call Press the Talk button to answer a call when you hear incoming call tones.
Rejecting a call Press and hold the Talk button to reject a call when a call comes in. • If you receive calls on both connected devices at the same time you can only reject the call on the primary phone. • This function is only available when using the Hands-Free profile. Options available during a call You can use the following functions during a call. Adjusting the volume Press the Volume up or down button to adjust the volume.
Transferring a call from the phone to the headset Press the Talk button to transfer a call from the phone to the headset. English When the microphone is turned off, the headset beeps at regular intervals. Press and hold the Volume up or down button again to turn the microphone back on. Placing a call on hold Press and hold the Talk button to place the current call on hold. This function is only available when using the Hands-Free profile.
Resetting the headset When the headset is paired with a device, it automatically saves connection and feature settings, such as the Bluetooth address or device type of the mobile phone. If you want to reset the connection settings in the headset: • In Pairing mode, press and hold both Volume buttons and Talk button at the same time for 3 seconds. The headset will be turned on automatically.
English Appendix Frequently asked questions Will my headset work with laptops, PCs, and PDAs? Your headset will work with devices that support your headset’s Bluetooth version and profiles. For specifications, see page 38. Why do I hear static or interference while on a call? Appliances such as cordless phones and wireless networking equipment may cause interference, which usually sounds like static. To reduce any interference, keep the headset away from other devices that use or produce radio waves.
Will my headset interfere with my car’s electronics, radio, or computer? Your headset produces significantly less power than a typical mobile phone. It also only emits signals that are in compliance with the international Bluetooth standard. Therefore, you should not expect any interference with standard consumer-grade electronics equipment.
Available features may vary depending on the connected device. If your headset is connected to two devices at once, some features may be unavailable. Carga del auricular El auricular tiene una batería interna recargable que no puede desmontarse. Asegúrese de que el auricular esté cargado completamente antes de usarlo por primera vez. Vinculación del auricular La vinculación implica una conexión inalámbrica única y cifrada entre dos dispositivos Bluetooth cuando se acuerda comunicarse entre sí. En el modo de vinculación, dos dispositivos deben colocarse lo suficientemente cerca entre sí. Vinculación y conexión del auricular con un teléfono 1 Acceda al modo de vinculación. • Con el auricular encendido, mantenga presionado el botón de funciones múltiples durante 3 segundos.

Rechazar una llamada Mantenga presionado el botón de funciones múltiples a fin de rechazar una llamada entrante. • Si recibe llamadas en ambos dispositivos conectados al mismo tiempo solamente podrá rechazar la llamada en el teléfono principal. • Esta función está disponible solamente en el perfil de manos libres. Opciones disponibles durante una llamada Puede utilizar las siguientes funciones durante una llamada.
Español Silenciar el micrófono Mantenga presionado el botón de aumento o disminución de volumen para apagar el micrófono de manera que el interlocutor no pueda escucharlo. Cuando el micrófono está apagado, el auricular emite un botón de funciones múltiples a intervalos regulares. Mantenga presionado el botón de aumento o disminución de volumen nuevamente para volver a encender el micrófono.
Responder una segunda llamada • Presione el botón de funciones múltiples para finalizar la primera llamada y responder la segunda llamada. • Mantenga presionado el botón de funciones múltiples a fin de colocar la primera llamada en espera y responder la segunda llamada. Para alternar entre la llamada actual y la llamada en espera, mantenga presionado el botón de funciones múltiples. Esta función está disponible solamente en el perfil de manos libres.
Si desea volver a configurar la conexión del auricular: • En el modo de vinculación, mantenga presionados al mismo tiempo los botones de aumento y disminución del volumen por 3 segundos. El auricular se encenderá automáticamente. A fin de usar el auricular, tendrá que vincularlo nuevamente.
Apéndice Preguntas frecuentes ¿Funciona con computadoras portátiles, PC y PDA? El auricular funciona con dispositivos que son compatibles con la misma versión y los mismos perfiles Bluetooth. Para conocer las especificaciones, consulte la página 80. ¿Por qué escucho estática o interferencia durante una llamada? Los dispositivos como teléfonos inalámbricos y equipos de red inalámbrica pueden producir interferencia, que por lo general se escucha como estática.
El auricular emite señales que cumplen con el estándar internacional de Bluetooth. Por tanto, no se producen interferencias con equipos electrónicos estándares. ¿Es posible que otros usuarios de teléfonos Bluetooth escuchen mi conversación? Cuando conecta el auricular al teléfono Bluetooth, crea un vínculo privado sólo entre estos dos dispositivos Bluetooth.
