getting started General Features The DVD-R174 allows you to record, edit and play high quality digital video on DVD-RAM/DVD±RW/DVD±R discs. High quality digital audio/video recording and playback You can record up to approximately 16-hours of video on a double side 9.4 GB DVD-RAM disc,up to 15hours on a dual-layer 8.5GB DVD±R disc, and up to 8-hours on a 4.7 GB DVD-RAM/DVD±RW/DVD±R disc, depending on the recording mode.

getting started How to use the DVD Recorder Step 1 : Select the disc type This unit can record on the following types of discs. If you want to repeatedly record on the same disc or you want to edit the disc after recording, select a rewritable DVD±RW or DVD-RAM type disc. If you want to save a recording without making any changes, choose a non-rewritable DVD±R. Step 2 : Format the disc to start recording The recorder automatically starts formatting when an unused disc is inserted.
Creating a playlist (DVD-RAM/-RW/-R in VR mode) With this recorder, you can create/edit a new playlist on the same disc without changing the original recording. Step 6 : Finalizing & Playing on other DVD components To play your DVD on other DVD players, finalizing may be necessary. First, finish all editing and recording operations, then finalize the disc. Although finalizing is generally unnecessary when playing the disc on a VR Mode compatible component, a finalized disc should be used for playback.
getting started Connecting the Power Cord After all connections are complete, plug the power cord into a wall outlet. "Auto" appears in the panel display. This means that the current time is being set automatically (Auto Program) through the antenna under connection and also the channel is being set. The setup may take a few minutes. When the DVD Recorder operates normally, the current time is automatically set and displayed in the front panel display.

connecting & setting up Connecting HDMI/DVI to a TV Connecting to a TV with an HDMI Jack HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) HDMI enables you to make a digital video and audio connection with a single cable. Using HDMI, the DVD player transmits a digital video and audio signal and displays a vivid picture on a TV having an HDMI input jack. Using an HDMI- HDMI cable(not included) connect the HDMI OUT jack on the rear of the DVD Recorder to the HDMI IN jack of your TV.

Unrecordable Video Pictures with copy protection cannot be recorded on this DVD Recorder. When the DVD Recorder receives a copy guard signal while recording, recording stops and the following message (to the right) appears on the screen. You cannot record copy protected movie. TV broadcasts that contain copy control signals may have one of the following three signal types, Copy-Free, Copy-Once and Copy-Never.

Utilisez un disque réinscriptible DVD±RW ou DVD-RAM si vous prévoyez enregistrer à plusieurs reprises sur le même disque, ou si vous souhaitez modifier le contenu du disque après l'enregistrement.
Création d’une playlist (Liste de Lecture) (pour DVD-RAM, DVD-RW et DVD-R en mode DVD-VR) Ce graveur vous permet de créer/modifier une nouvelle liste de lecture sur le même disque sans en modifier l’enregistrement original.

raccordement et configuration Raccordement du câble d’antenne Il existe plusieurs façons de raccorder votre graveur de DVD. Sélectionnez ci-dessous le type d'antenne souhaité. Antenne + Graveur DVD + téléviseur : Sans câblosélecteur Vous pouvez enregistrer les canaux non brouillés en sélectionnant la chaîne sur le graveur DVD. Utilisez aussi cette méthode si vous visionnez les chaînes sans câblosélecteur.
Antenne + Câblosélecteur + Graveur DVD + Téléviseur : Câblosélecteur à plusieurs canaux brouillés Vous pouvez enregistrer des chaînes en les syntonisant à partir du câblosélecteur. Il est impossible d’enregistrer une chaîne tout en visionnant une autre chaîne. Assurez-vous que le câblosélecteur est allumé.
raccordement et configuration Raccordement HDMI/DVI à votre téléviseur Connexion à un téléviseur (prise HDMI) HDMI ( High Definition Multimedia Interface) (Interface multimédia à haute définition) La fonction HDMI vous permet d’obtenir une connexion vidéo numérique + audio à l’aide d’un câble unique.
