Section 3: Entering Text T This section describes how to enter words, letters, punctuation and numbers when you need to enter text. Your device uses a virtual QWERTY keyboard for text entry. Use the keyboard to enter letters, punctuation, numbers, and other characters into text entry fields or applications. Access the keyboard by touching any text entry field.
Using XT9 Predictive Text The default case is lower case (abc). Enter upper and lower case alphabet letters by touching the Shift key to toggle the case, before touching the letter key(s).
• To edit text that you have entered: 1. Touch the text at the point you want to edit. 2. Cursor displays at the point you touched. T The Touch and drag the Cursor to a better position, if necessary. Enter additional text or delete text by repeatedly touching F 3. the Delete key. • To select and copy, delete, or replace text: 1. Touch hold the text or word you want to select. Using Speech Recognition You can use your voice to enter text using the Voice input feature, which lets you enter text by speaking. Samsung Keypad recognizes your speech and enters text for you. T 3.
Section 4: Contacts and Accounts This section explains how to manage contacts and accounts. The device communicates with account servers to set up T 4. Accounts your account. When complete, your account appears in the Manage accounts area of the Accounts & sync screen. Contacts Store contact information for your friends, family, and colleagues to quickly access information or to send a message. F Your device can synchronize with a variety of accounts.

At the prompt, choose a sending method, then follow the prompts to send the contact information: Assign contacts to Groups to make searching for contacts faster or to quickly call or send messages to group members. Creating a New Group Create a new group when you add or edit a contact. 1. 2. From a Home screen, touch Contacts. Adding and Removing Group Members Once you create a new group, the Contacts List can be set to display only the contacts in that group. T • POP3 accounts – Username: Depending on the requirements of your email service provider, your full email address or just your username (that is, the part before @emailprovider.com in your email address). – Password: The password for your email account, which should carry forward from the previous screen. – POP3 server: The fully resolved domain name of your email service provider’s POP3 server, for example, pop3.emailprovider.com.
T – Use secure connection (SSL): Check this option if your Exchange ActiveSync server requires you to connect to the server securely, or if you prefer to connect securely. – Accept all SSL certificates: Check this option if you want to accept a server certificate from your Exchange ActiveSync server that is selfsigned, out of date, or in some other way not accepted by the Email application.
2. Tap Create account to create a new Google account. – or – Enter your Email address and Password and tap Sign in, if you have an existing Google account. Note: If you have already set up your Google account, you are automatically logged in. F for your SMTP server, if your email service provider requires that you enter them to send email. • Username: Your username on the SMTP server (this may not be the same as your username on the POP3 or IMAP server for incoming mail).
If your friend accepts your invitation, they are added to your Friends list in Talk and you can share each others Options While Chatting 䊳 View and Accept an Invitation to Become a Friend 1. Section 6: Web and Social Networking Browser From a Home screen, touch Navigating the Web The following options are available for web navigation. Browser. From a Home screen, touch Apps ➔ Browser. Navigating the Map Zooming • Double-tap on the screen to zoom in. • Use two fingers, such as your index finger and F • Open pages in overview: When enabled, displays an overview of newly-opened pages. • Auto-fit pages: When enabled, the Browser automatically sizes web pages to fit your device’s display. • Block pop-ups: When enabled, blocks pop-up windows.
Maps Menu Speak: Just speak a city, location, and so on, to display. From a Home screen, touch Maps. 2. While viewing a map, touch Menu for these options: Compass: Set the map to always display north at the top of the screen or to automatically rotate like a compass, keeping north on the map facing north, and so on. Latitude Your location is displayed on the map, accurate to 30 meters. With Google Latitude, you can see the location of all of your friends on a map or on a list. You can also share or hide your location. To enable Wi-Fi: 1. From the Home screen, touch Apps ➔ Settings ➔ Location & security. Touch Use wireless networks.
