Understanding the LED Turning on the machine The color of the LEDs indicates the machine's current status. 1. Plug in the power cord. 2. Card stock/Custom-sized paper Glossy Postcards, cards and other custom-sized materials can be printed with this machine. Load one paper to the manual tray at a time, glossy side facing up. • • Recommended media: Glossy paper (Letter) for this machine by HP Brochure Paper (Product: Q6611A) only. Recommended media: Glossy paper (A4) for this machine by HP Superior Paper 160 glossy (Product: Q6616A).

Printing posters This feature allows you to print a single-page document onto 4, 9, or 16 sheets of paper, for the purpose of pasting the sheets together to form one poster-size document. The Booklet Printing option is not available for all paper sizes.
Change percentage of your document 3. Click OK or Print until you exit the print window. You can change the size of a document to appear larger or smaller on the printed page by typing in a percentage you want. Creating a watermark 1. To change the print settings from your software application, access Printing Preferences. (See "Opening printing preferences" on page 32.) 2. From the Advanced tab, select Edit from the Watermark drop-down list. The Edit Watermarks window appears. 3.
Creating a new page overlay To use a page overlay, you must create a new page overlay containing your logo or image. 1. Create or open a document containing text or an image for use in a new page overlay. Position the items exactly as you wish them to appear when printed as an overlay. 2. To save the document as an overlay, access Printing Preferences. (See "Opening printing preferences" on page 32.) 3. Click the Advanced tab, and select Edit from the Text drop-down list. Edit Overlay window appears. 4.
The machine prints the selected number of pages to print on one sheet of paper. 1. Check the Print to file box at the Print window. Using help Click the question mark on the bottom-left corner of the window and click on the topic you want to know about. A pop-up window appears with information about that option's feature, which is provided from the driver. 2. Click Print. 3. Type in the destination path and the file name, and then click OK. For example c:\Temp\file name.
4. Change the print job properties using the following four tabs displayed at the top of the window. • General: This option allows you to change the paper size, the paper type, and the orientation of the documents. It enables the duplex feature, adds start and end banners, and changes the number of pages per sheet. Automatic/manual duplex printing may not be available depending on models. You can alternatively use the lpr printing system or other applicaions for odd-even printing.

The actual print-out number may vary depending on the print density of the pages you print on, operating environment, printing interval, media type, and/or media size.

When the toner cartridge is near the end of its life: • White streaks or light printing occurs. • The LED blinks yellow.
Tips for avoiding paper jams 4. Remove the jammed paper by gently pulling it straight out. By selecting the correct media types, most paper jams can be avoided. When a paper jam occurs, refer to the next guidelines. • Ensure that the adjustable guides are positioned correctly. (See "Loading paper in the tray" on page 27.) • Do not overload the tray. Ensure that the paper level is below the paper capacity mark on the inside of the tray. • Do not remove paper from the tray while your machine is printing.
1. If the output support tray is opened, close the output tray first. 2. Pull the fuser cover levers down and remove the paper. Return the fuser cover levers to their original position. 3. Remove the jammed paper by gently pulling it straight out. 1 2 4. Solving other problems Condition The following chart lists some conditions that may occur and the recommended solutions. Follow the suggested solutions until the problem is corrected. If the problem persists, call for service. Paper does not feed into the machine. If necessary, replace the toner cartridge. The file may have blank pages. Check the file to ensure that it does not contain blank pages. Some parts, such as the controller or the board, may be defective. Contact a service representative. The machine does not print PDF file correctly.

Tabs on the sides of the cartridge and corresponding grooves within the machine will guide the cartridge into the correct position until it locks into place completely. 1. Open the front cover. 2. BOOTP enables 'diskless workstation' computers to obtain an IP address prior to loading any advanced operating system. CCD 802.11 Charge Coupled Device (CCD) is a hardware which enables the scan job. CCD Locking mechanism is also used to hold the CCD module to prevent any damage when you move the machine. 802.
DIMM Dual Inline Memory Module (DIMM), a small circuit board that holds memory. DIMM stores all the data within the machine like printing data, received fax data. Emulation focuses on exact reproduction of external behavior, which is in contrast to simulation, which concerns an abstract model of the system being simulated, often considering its internal state.
IEEE arrangements between different countries to allow international phone calls. A -T out of ITU-T indicates telecommunication. The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) is an international non-profit, professional organization for the advancement of technology related to electricity. ITU-T No. 1 chart IEEE 1284 Standardized test chart published by ITU-T for document facsimile transmissions.
MMR PDF Modified Modified READ (MMR) is a compression method recommended by ITU-T T.6. Portable Document Format (PDF) is a proprietary file format developed by Adobe Systems for representing two dimensional documents in a device independent and resolution independent format. Modem PostScript A device that modulates a carrier signal to encode digital information, and also demodulates such a carrier signal to decode transmitted information.
UNC Path between nodes on a network. It also provides an authenticated Inter-process communication mechanism. Uniform Naming Convention (UNC) is a standard way to access network shares in Window NT and other Microsoft products. XPS XML Paper Specification (XPS) is a specification for a Page Description Language (PDL) and a new document format, which has benefits for portable document and electronic document, developed by Microsoft.
