changes the function of the PBAL key to that of a recall key.

Y or N Set the length of check in number of digits. For example, if 4,
then checks must be used in the range from 1000, to 9999. This
setting applies only to check numbers input by the operator, not to
check numbers assigned by the register.

Choose Y to allow the check number to be input by a scanner (must
be nine digits or less).
