Quick Start Step #4: Basic Programming
This section covers the basic programming necessary to get your cash register running
quickly. See “Program Mode Reference Guide” on page 119 if you wish to program options
that are not included in this section.
Programming the Date and Time
Use this program to set the clock and calendar on your ER-285M. The date changes
automatically. After initial setting, time changing is usually required only for beginning and
ending daylight savings time.
1. Turn the control lock to the PGM position.
2. To begin the program, enter 1 3 0 0, press the SUBTOTAL key.
3. Enter the time in military time (based on 24 hours). The entry must be four
digits: two digits for hour (HH) and two digits for the minutes (MM). For
example enter 0630 for 6:30 AM or enter 1345 for 1:45 PM.
Enter the current time and press the X/TIME key.
4. Enter the date in MM (month) DD (day) and YY (year) format. For example, for
January 31, 2007, enter 013107.
Enter the date and press the X/TIME key:
5. Press the CASH key to finalize the program.
