Installation Guide

A quality mixture of sand, coarse aggregate, cementitious materials
and special additives. For setting posts and poles without mixing
or bracing. For building or repairing walkways, floors, footings and
patios. For applications of 2 inches (50 -75 mm) in thickness or
more where rapid strength is needed to allow same day use. This
product sets much faster than ordinary concrete.
SAFETY:
READ and UNDERSTAND the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) before using
this product. WARNING: Wear protective clothing and equipment. See HMIS
block. For emergency information, call CHEMTREC at 800-424-9300
or 703-527-3887 (outside USA). KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN.
DIRECTIONS: FOR SETTING POSTS AND POLES WITHOUT MIXING OR
BRACING - READ ALL DIRECTIONS BEFORE STARTING WORK.
Step 1: Dig hole to desired size and place approximately 2 to 3 inches gravel
(50-75 mm) in bottom.
Step 2: Fill hole approximately 1/3 full with clean water. (Hot water causes
faster set). Damp or wet soil may require less water than dry or sandy soil.
Step 3: Place post in hole as desired. Pour or shovel SAKRETE® Fast-Setting
Concrete Mix into hole evenly. When dry mix fills hole to water level, add
more water and dry mix until hole is full. Be sure post is aligned as required.
Step 4: When hole is full, lightly tamp or trowel top of concrete to consolidate
and shape surface. If necessary, a small amount of water may be sprinkled
on the surface to aid with finishing.
DIRECTIONS:
NEW CONCRETE SLABS AND REPAIR WORK - READ ALL DIRECTIONS
BEFORE STARTING WORK.
PREPARATION: When repairing concrete, remove all loose and foreign mate-
rial. Dampen adjoining concrete surfaces.
MIXING:
Empty the contents into a mortar box, wheelbarrow or mechanical mixer.
When mixing by hand, form a crater for adding water. Add
approximately 2.5 to 3 quarts (2.4 to 2.9 L) of clean water per 50 lb. bag
(22.6 kg) or enough to achieve a workable mix. If too stiff, add more water
a little at a time. AVOID A SOUPY MIX. Excess water reduces strength and
durability and can cause cracking. In cold weather use warm water to accel-
erate the set. Use cold water to slow the set in hot weather. Do not mix more
material than can be used in 15 minutes.
PLACEMENT:
Place & consolidate the SAKRETE® Fast-Setting Concrete Mix. Work the
material into voids then level the surface with a straight edge
board. Allow freshly placed concrete to set until the surface water has begun
to disappear before finishing. Time will vary with weather conditions.
FINISHING:
Level with a screed and allow the bleed water to evaporate. Use a float to
remove surface imperfections and trowel to a smooth finish. For
a rougher surface, use a broom. Refer to ACI 302. Finishing cementitious
materials too early, or over-working the materials can cause dusting, cracking,
scaling and a weak surface. Finish with an edging tool.
CURING:
Curing means maintaining proper moisture and temperature. Account for local
environmental conditions when selecting the curing method. High
heat, low humidity or wind will increase the evaporation of water. Keep the
surface damp, using a sprinkler, wet burlap, Sakrete Cure ‘N Seal or cover
with plastic for several days as needed. In cold weather adequately cover and
keep from freezing for a minimum of 24 hours. Refer to ACI 308.
STORAGE:
Store in a tightly closed container off the floor in a dry place.
