4.1.1.3.2 Tail Winds
Moderate to strong tail winds can prevent the exhaust gases from escaping the engine via the
exhaust stack during start-up. For this reason, engine starts should not be performed with a tail
wind of any strength. If you have to do it, monitor the EGT carefully during the start procedure. If
at any time the turbine temperature climbs above the yellow band, be prepared to immediately cut
the fuel and continue to motor the starter until the temperature has decreased sufficiently and
returned to the yellow band.
Hint: The aircraft can be repositioned into the wind by using the “Slew” mode and turned using the
yaw controls, or by changing the heading in the “World->Map” dialog.
4.1.2 Shut-down
The method for shutting down the DodoSim 206 FSX is identical for the two different FCUs:
1. Close throttle to idle stop, but not below wait for rotor RPM to decay to approx 60% and
stabilise
2. Anti-icing switch to OFF
3. Wait for two minutes for temperatures to stabilise.
Important note: This is mandated at difficulty level 5 only, if damage to the engine is not to
occur.
4. DEPRESS idle release latch and close throttle fully.
5. Directional Gyro switch to OFF
6. Avionics switch to OFF
7. Fuel Valve to CLOSE
8. Generator switch to OFF
9. Position light switch to OFF
10. Aft fuel pump CB to OUT
11. Fore fuel pump CB to OUT
12. Caution lights (annunciator) CB to OUT
13. Generator field CB to OUT
14. Generator reset CB to OUT
15. Pitot heat switch to OFF
16. Hydraulics (control boost) switch to OFF
