Slotted Tube
Atom Trap
The Thermo Scientific Slotted Tube Atom Trap (SLAT) accessory provides a useful increase in
flame analytical sensitivity for volatile elements, such as Cd, Zn, Pb, and Cu. It provides a potential
of 2 to 5 times improvement in sensitivity for certain volatile elements on flame systems when
employing a 50 mm burner. The tube is slotted to allow the atom cloud residence time to be
significantly increased in the measuring optical beam.
The SLAT consists of a silica cell with a mount for 50 mm burners and enables the tube to
be rotated into, and out of, the actual flame.

Variable Flow
Auxiliary Oxidant Kit
The Thermo Scientific Variable Flow Auxiliary Oxidant Kit allows the flow rate of the auxiliary
oxidant gas that can be supplied to an air/acetylene flame to be varied over a wide range in
order to allow the flame chemistry to be optimized when using less common organic solvents.
Note: all flame instruments include a fixed flow rate auxiliary oxidant facility for air/acetylene
flames that is suitable for the organic solvents most commonly used.
