8.5 UseCaseScenarios
UsersinterfacingwiththeRangeFindercanfollowtheseUseCasestoperformcommonoperations.
8.5.1 PowerOn
Uponpower‐up,thepower‐onBuilt‐in‐TestisexecutedandtheStatusResponsemessageissent.TheHostComputerusesthestatusmessage
to assess the state of the Range Finder to determine the next operational state. The following steps outline a typical Power‐On process and
commandsequence.
1. TheWake‐upBuilt‐in‐Test(BIT)isexecutedoncewhentheRangeFinderispoweredonandpowerisstable.
2. After thepower‐onBITisexecuted,theHostshouldsendtheDataRequestMessagetorequesttheStatusResponseMessage.TheHost
shouldthenreviewthe
resultsoftheBITsprovidedintheStatusResponseMessagetoconfirmthattheRangeFinderisOperational.
3. IfRangeFinderisOperational,jumptotheOperationalUseCase(Section8.5.3).
4. IftheStatusMessageindicatesanICAOAddressfailurebutisotherwisefunctional,jumptotheInstallationUse
Case(section8.5.2).
5. IftheStatusMessageindicatesafailure,HostComputershouldlogthefailureand takeappropriateremedialaction.
