PROBLEM POSSIBLE CAUSES EASY SOLUTION
Espresso runs out
too quickly.
• Coee is ground
too coarsely.
Use slightly ner grind.
Refer to 'Coee Dose and Tamping'
on page 10 and 'Extraction Tips'
on page 14.
• Not enough coee in
the lter basket.
Increase dose of coee. Tamp then
use the Razor™ dose trimming tool to
trim o excess coee. Refer to 'Coee
Dose and Tamping' on page 10 and
'Extraction Tips' on page 14.
• Coee tamped too lightly. Tamp between 15–20kg of pressure.
Espresso runs out
around the edge of
the portalter.
• Portalter not inserted
in the group head correctly.
Ensure portalter is completely
inserted and rotated until
resistance is felt.
• There are coee grounds
around the lter basket rim.
Clean excess coee from the rim
of the lter basket to ensure a
proper seal in group head.
• Too much coee in the
lter basket.
Lower dose of coee. Refer
to ‘Coee Dose and Tamping’,
page 10. After tamping, trim the
coee dose using the Razor™
dose trimming tool.
No steam.
• Machine has not reached
operating temperature.
Allow time for the machine to reach
operating temperature.
• Water tank is empty. Fill tank.
• Water tank is not fully
inserted and locked
into position.
Push water tank down completely
to lock into place.
• Machine needs to
be decalcied.
Perform descale cycle.
• Steam wand is blocked.
Refer to ‘Cleaning the Steam Wand’,
page 17.
Pulsing/pumping
sound while
extracting espresso
or steaming milk.
• The machine is carrying out
the normal operation of
the pump.
No action required as this is the
normal operation of the machine.
• Water tank is empty. Fill tank.
• Water tank is not fully
inserted and locked
into position.
Push water tank down completely
to lock into place.
Coee not hot enough.
• Portalter not pre-heated Rinse portalter under hot water
outlet. Dry thoroughly
