c. Remove one of the four (4)
1
/4 -20 x 7/8 socket
head cap crews that attach the throttle body to
the manifolds and coat the threads with Loctite
®
242 or equivalent. Replace the screw but do
NOT tighten at this time.
d. Repeat for the remaining three (3) screws. DO
NOT TIGHTEN SCREWS AT THIS TIME.
F. Install Tuned Intake Runner
(Skip to Section G for teardrop installation.)
1. Attach Tuned Intake Runner
a. Attach the support bracket to the intake runner
using the two (2)
5
/16 -18 button head screws with
the pre-applied thread locker. Leave fasteners
just loose enough to allow bracket to slide within
the slotted holes, but tight enough to hold support
bracket against the runner.
See Picture 30.
b. Place a throttle body gasket between the runner
and throttle body and begin to attach the runner
and bracket assembly to the throttle body. Use
shims between the support bracket and head
breather fittings as necessary. The
manifold/throttle body assembly should still be
loosely installed to allow the assembly to line up
so the support bracket will attach to the head
breather fittings.
c. Install the four (4) runner to throttle body
screws, and coat the threads with Loctite
®
242
or equivalent. The short
1
/4 -20 x 5/8 socket
head cap screw goes into the top right mounting
hole of the intake runner. The longer
1
/4 -20 x
7
/8
screw goes into the top left. A ball-end
3
/16" Allen
wrench is needed for the short screw.
See Picture 31.
d. The two (2) bottom screws with 12 point heads
enter from the backside of the runner. Use a
1
/4"
12 point box end wrench and turn the screws in
a few turns. See Picture 32.
e. Install screws #17-0346 into the head breather
fittings and over the support bracket slots.
See Picture 31.
f. The induction system should now be mounted,
loosely, with no fasteners yet tightened.
However
, the fuel rail should already be
securely fastened and properly tightened per
the torque specification. Verify that the fuel rail
is properly fastened before proceeding.
2. Tuned Induction Assembly Fastener Tightening
Sequence
a. Gently tighten each fastener, starting with the
5
/16 -18 manifold to head screws, and tighten
until a clamping load is just felt, then back off
1
/8
turn. Continue this procedure with the four (4)
throttle body to manifold screws, the two (2)
#17-0346 support bracket to head breather
fitting screws and the four (4) runner to throttle
body screws. A shortened Allen wrench will
provide easy access to the top right throttle
body to manifold screw. See Picture 31.
