The Switches
The Inspector EXP has 2 switches on the front and 3 buons on the end panel. Each switch has 3 sengs which
are described below.
Mode Switch Figure 2(2)
mR/hr µSv/hr: The numeric display shows the current radiaon level in milliroentgens per hour or, when SI
units are used, in microsieverts per hour.
• In mR/hr mode, The Inspector EXP displays the radiaon level from .001 to 100.
• In µSv/hr mode, The Inspector EXP displays the radiaon level from .01 to 1000.
See Ulity Menu in Chapter 3 for details on how to switch between modes.
CPM/CPS: In CPM, the display shows the current radiaon level in counts per minute from 0 to 350,000. When
using SI units, the display shows the radiaon level in counts per second from 0 to 5000. When X1000 is shown
on the display, mulply the numeric reading by 1000 to get the complete radiaon level.
Timed Count (Total/Timer): The display shows the accumulated total of counts from 1 to 9,999,000. When
X1000 is shown on the display, mulply the numeric reading by 1000 to get the complete radiaon level. For
details, see Taking a Timed Count in Chapter 3.
O/On/Audio Switch Figure 2 (3)
Audio: The Inspector EXP is on and makes a clicking sound for each radiaon event detected.
On: The Inspector EXP is operang, but the audio is o.
O: The Inspector EXP is not operang.
The Backlight
The LCD has a backlight that can be acvated for the default 10 seconds by pressing the + buon. The duraon
me of the backlight can be changed with the soware. If the duraon me has been changed, you can restore
the default me of 10 seconds in the ulity menu. See Ulity Menu in Chapter 3 for more informaon on using
the ulity menu.
