The Switches
The Inspector EXP has 2 switches on the front and 3 buons on the end panel. Each switch has 3 sengs which
are described below.
Mode Switch Figure 2(2)
mR/hr µSv/hr: The numeric display shows the current radiaon level in milliroentgens per hour or, when SI
units are used, in microsieverts per hour.
In mR/hr mode, The Inspector EXP displays the radiaon level from .001 to 100.
In µSv/hr mode, The Inspector EXP displays the radiaon level from .01 to 1000.
See Ulity Menu in Chapter 3 for details on how to switch between modes.
CPM/CPS: In CPM, the display shows the current radiaon level in counts per minute from 0 to 350,000. When
using SI units, the display shows the radiaon level in counts per second from 0 to 5000. When X1000 is shown
on the display, mulply the numeric reading by 1000 to get the complete radiaon level.
Timed Count (Total/Timer): The display shows the accumulated total of counts from 1 to 9,999,000. When
X1000 is shown on the display, mulply the numeric reading by 1000 to get the complete radiaon level. For
details, see Taking a Timed Count in Chapter 3.
O/On/Audio Switch Figure 2 (3)
Audio: The Inspector EXP is on and makes a clicking sound for each radiaon event detected.
On: The Inspector EXP is operang, but the audio is o.
O: The Inspector EXP is not operang.
The Backlight
The LCD has a backlight that can be acvated for the default 10 seconds by pressing the + buon. The duraon
me of the backlight can be changed with the soware. If the duraon me has been changed, you can restore
the default me of 10 seconds in the ulity menu. See Ulity Menu in Chapter 3 for more informaon on using
the ulity menu.
