FEATURES KNOW YOUR LAMINATE TRIMMER LAMINATE SUB-BASE See Figure 1. The safe use of this product requires an understanding of the information on the tool and in this operator’s manual as well as a knowledge of the project you are attempting. Before use of this product, familiarize yourself with all operating features and safety rules. The sub-base gives the operator greater visibility of the workpiece during laminate trimming operations.
ASSEMBLY INSTALLING/REMOVING TRIMMING BITS See Figures 2 - 3. If installing the bit for the first time, it can be installed once the collet nut is loose. If changing bits, the bit will easily slip from the collet after loosening the collet nut. n Turn the switch to OFF and remove the battery pack from the trimmer. n Place the trimmer upside down on a workbench. STOP GROOVE n To remove the laminate sub-base assembly, open the depth adjustment latch.
OPERATION WARNING: DEPRESS LATCHES TO REMOVE BATTERY PACK Do not allow familiarity with tools to make you careless. Remember that a careless fraction of a second is sufficient to inflict serious injury. BATTERY PACK WARNING: LATCH Always wear safety goggles or safety glasses with side shields when operating tools. Failure to do so could result in objects being thrown into your eyes, resulting in possible serious injury.
OPERATION WARNING: Battery tools are always in operating condition. Therefore, switch should always be off and the battery pack removed when not in use or carrying at your side. RIGHT-HANDED USE GRIPPING THE TRIMMER See Figure 5. The trimmer has a dual grip design that allows the operator to hold the tool with either the right or left hand. For right-handed operation, the depth adjustment latch must be on the left side of the tool.
OPERATION OPERATING THE TRIMMER Before starting the trimmer, with the battery pack disconnected, make sure the bit is securely tightened in the collet and that the depth of cut is properly set. Never start the trimmer while the bit is in contact with the workpiece. After completing a cut, pull the bit slightly away from the cut surface. Turn the trimmer off and wait for the rotating bit to completely stop before completely removing the tool from the work surface.
OPERATION SETTING DEPTH OF CUT See Figure 9. n Turn the switch off and remove the battery pack from the trimmer. n Open the depth adjustment latch as indicated by the arrow. n Slide the motor housing section of the trimmer upward until the tip of the bit reaches the work surface. The depth of cut is zero at this point. n Adjust the position of the trimmer to obtain the desired depth of cut by moving the motor housing section up or down, as shown by the up/down arrow.
OPERATION OPTIONAL WOODWORKING SUB-BASE Turn the P600 laminate trimmer into a trim router with the optional woodworking sub-base, Ryobi Part No. 200334001. The woodworking sub-base accessory with handles is convenient when routing 4 in., 5 in., or 6 in. circular grooves. It can also be used when routing grooves parallel to the edge of the workpiece or with ball-bearing piloted bits. The handles allow you to grasp and hold the trimmer with two hands, similar to grasping and holding a router.
OPERATION ROUTING GROOVES IN A CIRCLE ROUT GROOVE FROM RIGHT TO LEFT See Figure 11. n There are three holes marked R2", R2-1/2", and R3" on the woodworking sub-base. Each number represents a radius and may be used when cutting circular grooves that are 4 in., 5 in. or 6 in. in diameter. n Select the radius for the desired circle, place a finishing nail through the hole and securely tack it into the workpiece. This will create a pivot axis for that size radius.
OPERATION PROPER RATE OF FEED Clean smooth trimming and edge shaping can be done only when the bit is revolving at a relatively high speed and is taking very small bites to produce tiny, cleanly-severed chips. If the trimmer is forced to move forward too fast, the speed of the bit becomes slower than normal in relation to its forward movement. As a result, the bit must take bigger bites as it revolves. Bigger bites mean bigger chips and a rougher finish.
OPERATION DEPTH OF CUT See Figure 15. Depth of cut affects the rate of feed and the quality of a cut. Using the proper depth of cut can lessen the possibility of damage to the trimmer motor and bit. A deeper cut requires a slower feed than a shallow one. Making a cut that is too deep will slow the feed so that the bit is scraping, rather than cutting, and is not recommended. A too-deep cut can cause smaller bits to be broken off. bits that are 1/16 in.
MAINTENANCE GENERAL MAINTENANCE WARNING: Avoid using solvents when cleaning plastic parts. Most plastics are susceptible to damage from various types of commercial solvents and may be damaged by their use. Use clean cloths to remove dirt, dust, oil, grease, etc. When servicing, use only identical replacement parts. Use of any other parts may create a hazard or cause product damage. CARACTÉRISTIQUES VEILLER À BIEN CONNAÎTRE LA ROGNEUSE SEMELLE POUR LAMINÉS Voir la figure 1. L’utilisation sûre de ce produit exige une compréhension des renseignements figurant sur l’outil et contenus dans le manuel d’utilisation, ainsi qu’une bonne connaissance du projet entrepris. Avant d’utiliser ce produit, se familiariser avec toutes ses fonctions et règles de sécurité. La semelle donne à l’opérateur une meilleure visibilité de la pièce lors du rognage des laminés.
ASSEMBLAGE INSTALLATION / RETRAIT DES FERS À ROGNER Voir les figures 2 et 3. Pour la première installation du fer, l’écrou du collet doit être desserré. Lors d’un changement de fer, celui-ci glissera facilement du collet après avoir desserré l’écrou. n Mettre le commutateur en position d’arrêt et retirer le bloc de batteries. n Poser la rogneuse à l’envers sur un plan de travail. RAINURE D’ARRÊT n Pour retirer la semelle à laminés, ouvrir le verrouillage de réglage de profondeur.
UTILISATION APPUYER SUR LES LOQUETS POUR LIBÉRER LE BLOC DE BATTERIES AVERTISSEMENT : Ne pas laisser la familiarité avec l’outil faire oublier la prudence. Ne pas oublier qu’une fraction de seconde d’inattention peut entraîner des blessures graves. BLOC DE BATTERIES AVERTISSEMENT : LOQUET Toujours porter des lunettes étanches ou des lunettes de sécurité à munies d’écrans latéraux lors de l’utilisation d’outils.
UTILISATION AVERTISSEMENT : Les outils à batteries sont toujours en état de fonctionnement. C’est pourquoi le commutateur doit toujours être en position d’arrêt et le bloc de batteries retiré lorsque l’outil n’est pas en usage ou est transporté. UTILISATION À MAIN DROITE TENUE DE LA ROGNEUSE Voir la figure 5. La rogneuse est dotée de deux poignées, ce qui permet à l’opérateur de la tenir avec la main droite ou la main gauche.
UTILISATION UTILISATION DE LA ROGNEUSE Avant de mettre l’outil en marche, le bloc de batteries étant retiré, s’assurer que le fer est bien serré dans le collet et que le réglage de profondeur de coupe est correct. Ne jamais mettre l’outil en marche lorsque le fer est en contact avec la pièce. Une fois le travail terminé, écarter légèrement le fer de la pièce. Pour le rognage, placer la base de l’outil sur la surface de travail et maintenir fermement la rogneuse avec la main.
UTILISATION RÉGLAGE DE LA PROFONDEUR DE COUPE Voir la figure 9. n Mettre le commutateur en position d’arrêt et retirer le bloc de batteries de l’outil. n Ouvrir le verrouillage du réglage de profondeur, comme indiqué par la flèche. n Faire glisser la portion boîtier du moteur de la rogneuse vers le haut jusqu’à ce que la pointe du fer touche la surface de travail. À ce point, la profondeur de coupe est de zéro.
UTILISATION SEMELLE POUR BOIS EN OPTION La semelle pour bois en option, réf. Ryobi 200334001, permet de transformer la rogneuse en toupie de finition. La semelle pour bois permet de toupiller des rainures circulaires de 10, 13 et 15 cm (4, 5 et 6 po). Elle peut également être utilisée pour toupiller des rainures parallèles au bord de la pièce avec des fers à roulement guide. Les poignées permettent de saisir et maintenir la rogneuse à deux mains, tout comme une toupie.
UTILISATION TOUPILLAGE DE RAINURES CIRCULAIRES TOUPILLER DE DROITE À GAUCHE Voir la figure 11. n La semelle pour travail du bois comporte trois trous marqués R2”, R2-1/2” et R3”. n Chacun de ces chiffre représente un rayon permettant de toupiller des rainures circulaires de 10, 13 et 15 cm (4, 5 et 6 po) de diamètre. n Choisir le rayon correspondant au cercle désiré, placer un clou de finition dans le trou et l’enfoncer fermement dans la pièce à toupiller.
UTILISATION VITESSE D’ENGAGEMENT CORRECTE plus l’avance doit être lente. Si le bois est très dur, noueux, résineux ou humide, la vitesse d’avance doit être réduite encore davantage. Un toupillage ou profilage propre et net ne peut être obtenu que lorsque le fer tourne à relativement haute vitesse et mord légèrement, produisant de petits copeaux, nettement taillés. Si la rogneuse est poussée trop vite, la vitesse de rotation du fer par rapport à la vitesse d’avance devient inférieure à la normale.
UTILISATION PROFONDEUR DE COUPE PROFONDEUR DE COUPE Voir la figure 15. La profondeur de coupe affecte la vitesse d’avance et la qualité de la coupe. L’usage d’une profondeur de coupe correcte peut réduire les risques d’endommagement du moteur et du fer. Une coupe plus profonde demande une avance plus lente qu’une coupe peu profonde. Une profondeur de coupe excessive ralentit l’avance au point que le fer râpe le bois au lieu de le couper et n’est donc pas recommandée.
ENTRETIEN ENTRETIEN GÉNÉRAL AVERTISSEMENT : Éviter d’utiliser des solvants pour le nettoyage des pièces en plastique. La plupart des matières plastiques peuvent être endommagées par divers types de solvants du commerce. Utiliser un chiffon propre pour éliminer la saleté, la poussière, l’huile, la graisse, etc. Utiliser exclusivement des pièces d’origine pour les réparations. L’usage de toute autre pièce pourrait créer une situation dangereuse ou endommager l’produit.

ARMADO MONTAJE Y DESMONTAJE DE LAS FRESAS DE RECORTAR Vea las figuras 2 y 3. Si va a instalar la fresa por primera vez, puede instalarla una vez aflojada la tuerca del portaherramientas. Si va a cambiar la fresa, ésta sale fácilmente del portaherramientas después de aflojar la tuerca del mismo. n Ponga el interruptor en apagado (OFF) y retire el paquete de pilas. RANURA DE TOPE n Coloque la recortadora en posición vertical invertida sobre un banco de trabajo.
FUNCIONAMIENTO PARA SOLTAR EL PAQUETE DE PILAS OPRIMA LOS PESTILLOS ADVERTENCIA: No permita que su familarización con las herramientas lo vuelva descuidado. Tenga presente que un descuido de un instante es suficiente para causar una lesión grave. PAQUETE DE PILAS ADVERTENCIA: PESTILLO Cuando utilice herramientas, póngase siempre gafas de seguridad o anteojos protectores con protección lateral.
FUNCIONAMIENTO ADVERTENCIA: Las herramientas de pilas siempre están en condiciones de funcionamiento. Por lo tanto, cuando no esté usándose o esté acarreándose la herramienta a un costado, el interruptor siempre debe estar en la posición de apagado y el paquete de pilas desmontado. USO CON LA MANO DERECHA SUJECIÓN DE LA RECORTADORA Vea la figura 5. El diseño de la recortadora permite al operador sujetarla con la mano derecha o izquierda.
FUNCIONAMIENTO UTILIZACIÓN DE LA RECORTADORA Antes de encender la recortadora, teniendo desconectado el paquete de pilas, asegúrese de que la fresa esté firmemente apretada en el portaherramientas y de que esté debidamente ajustada la profundidad de corte. Nunca encienda la recortadora con la fresa tocando la pieza de trabajo. Después de terminar un corte, aleje levemente la fresa de la superficie cortada.
FUNCIONAMIENTO AJUSTE DE LA PROFUNDIDAD DE CORTE Vea la figura 9. n Ponga el interruptor en apagado (OFF) y retire de la recortadora el paquete de pilas. n Abra el pestillo de ajuste de profundidad, como indica la flecha. n Deslice hacia arriba la sección del alojamiento del motor de la recortadora hasta que la punta de la fresa alcance la superficie de trabajo. En este punto la profundidad de corte es cero.
FUNCIONAMIENTO SUBBASE OPTATIVA PARA CARPINTERÍA RECORTADORA La recortadora P600 puede convertirse en una fresadora de ornamentación con la subbase optativa para carpintería, pieza Ryobi núm. 200334001. La subbase optativa con mangos para carpintería es útil para fresar ranuras circulares de 10,2 cm (4 pulg.), 12,7 cm (5 pulg.) ó 15,2 cm (6 pulg.). También puede usarse al fresar ranuras paralelas al canto de la pieza de trabajo, o con fresas de vástago con cojinete de bolas.
FUNCIONAMIENTO FRESADO DE RANURAS EN CÍRCULO FRESE LA RANURA AVANZANDO DE DERECHA A IZQUIERDA Vea la figura 11. n Hay tres agujeros con las marcas R2”, R2-1/2” y R3” en la subbase para carpintería. Cada número representa un radio y puede usarse al cortar ranuras circulares de 10,2 cm (4 pulg.), 12,7 cm (5 pulg.) ó 15,2 cm (6 pulg.) de diámetro. n Seleccione el radio correspondiente al círculo deseado, coloque un clavo de acabado a través del agujero y clávelo firmemente en la pieza de trabajo.
FUNCIONAMIENTO VELOCIDAD DE AVANCE CORRECTA la pieza de trabajo. Cuanto más grande es la fresa o más profundo el corte, mayor será la lentitud de avance de la recortadora. Si la madera es muy dura, nudosa, gomosa o húmeda, debe bajarse la velocidad de la operación aún más.
FUNCIONAMIENTO PROFUNDIDAD DEL CORTE PROFUNDIDAD DEL CORTE Vea la figura 15. La profundidad de corte afecta la velocidad de avance y la calidad del corte. Usando la profundidad de corte adecuada puede aminorarse la posibilidad de dañar el motor de la recortadora y la fresa. Un corte más profundo requiere una velocidad de corte más lenta que un corte menos profundo. No se recomienda efectuar un corte tan profundo que disminuya la velocidad de avance de manera que la fresa esté raspando en lugar de cortar.
MANTENIMIENTO MANTENIMIENTO GENERAL ADVERTENCIA: Evite el empleo de solventes al limpiar piezas de plástico. La mayoría de los plásticos son susceptibles a diferentes tipos de solventes comerciales y pueden resultar dañados. Utilice paños limpios para eliminar la suciedad, el polvo, el aceite, la grasa, etc. Al dar servicio a la unidad, sólo utilice piezas de repuesto idénticas. El empleo de piezas diferentes puede causar un peligro o dañar el producto.
