FEATURES KNOW YOUR HAMMER DRILL AUXILIARY HANDLE ASSEMBLY See Figure 1. Before attempting to use this product, familiarize yourself with all operating features and safety rules. An auxiliary handle is installed on the hammer drill. For ease of operation, you may use the handle with either the left hand or the right hand. SWITCH HAMMER MODE OPERATION Your hammer drill has a conveniently located trigger switch. This tool features a hammer speed of 0-18,000 Blows Per Minute (BPM) in HIGH (2) speed.
ASSEMBLY UNPACKING WARNING: This product has been shipped completely assembled. If any parts are missing do not operate this tool until the missing parts are replaced. Failure to do so could result in possible serious personal injury. n Carefully remove the tool and any accessories from the box. Make sure that all items listed in the packing list are included. n Inspect the tool carefully to make sure no breakage or damage occurred during shipping.
OPERATION CHARGING THE BATTERY PACK P110 CHARGER The battery pack for this tool has been shipped in a low charge condition to prevent possible problems. Therefore, you should charge it until the green LED on the front of the charger comes on. NOTE: Batteries will not reach full charge the first time they are charged. Allow several cycles (operation followed by recharging) for them to become fully charged.
20 5 OPERATION CHARGING A HOT BATTERY PACK When using the tool continuously, the batteries in the battery pack will become hot. You should let a hot battery pack cool down for approximately 30 minutes before attempting to recharge. When the battery pack becomes discharged and is hot, this will cause the green LED to come on instead of the red LED. After 30 minutes, reinsert the battery pack in the charger.
OPERATION INSERTING BITS See Figure 6. n Lock the trigger switch by placing the rotation selector in the center position. n Position the chuck jaws so that the opening is slightly larger than the drill bit you intend to use. NOTE: To open the chuck jaws, turn the chuck sleeve counterclockwise. To close the chuck jaws, turn the chuck sleeve clockwise. UNLOCK (Release) 20 DRILL BIT n Raise the front of the drill to keep the drill bit from falling out of the chuck jaws.
OPERATION WARNING: TO TIGHTEN The hammer drill should never be connected to a power supply when you are assembling parts, making adjustments, cleaning, performing maintenance, or when the tool is not in use. Disconnecting the tool will prevent accidental starting that could cause serious injury. KNOB 20 TO LOOSEN ADJUSTING THE AUXILIARY HANDLE ASSEMBLY See Figure 8. n Loosen the auxiliary handle assembly by turning the knob counterclockwise.
OPERATION ADJUSTING THE TORQUE See Figure 11. The hammer drill is equipped with an adjustable torque clutch for driving different types of screws into different materials. Adjust the torque as necessary. We recommend that you use carbide-tipped bits and select hammer mode when drilling in hard materials such as brick, tile, concrete, etc. n Identify the torque indicator settings located on the front of the hammer drill. n Rotate the adjusting ring to the desired setting.
OPERATION USING THE LEVELS See Figure 13. Two levels are recessed in the motor housing of the hammer drill. One is located on top, while the other is located on the end. They can be used to keep drill bits level during both horizontal and vertical drilling operations. TOP VIEW DRILLING LEVEL 20 See Figure 13. n Secure the material to be drilled in a vise or with clamps to keep it from turning as the drill bit rotates. n Hold the tool firmly and place the bit at the point to be drilled.
MAINTENANCE WARNING: MALLET When servicing, use only identical Ryobi replacement parts. Use of any other parts may create a hazard or cause product damage. 20 CHUCK JAWS 5 WARNING: Always wear safety goggles or safety glasses with side shields during power tool operation or when blowing dust. If operation is dusty, also wear a dust mask. HEX KEY WARNING: KEYLESS CHUCK Fig. 14 To avoid serious personal injury, always remove the battery pack from the tool when cleaning or performing any maintenance.
MAINTENANCE TIGHTENING THE CHUCK n Open the chuck jaws. n Insert the hex key wrench into the chuck and tighten the chuck jaws securely. n Tap the hex key wrench sharply with a mallet in a clockwise direction. This will tighten chuck on the spindle. n Open the chuck jaws and remove the hex key wrench. n Tighten the chuck screw. NOTE: The chuck screw has left-handed threads. See Figures 14 and 15. The chuck may become loose on the spindle and begin to shake when using the drill.
