DESCRIPTION AND USES
Polyurethane Sprays seals and protects interior wood surfaces
while providing a beautiful and durable finish. Its smooth
appearance will allow natural wood grain to show through.
It protects against scuff marks, abrasion, chipping, water,
alcohol, and chemicals. Polyurethane sprays are ideal for use
on furniture, cabinets, doors, moldings, shutters, tabletops,
banisters, and wicker. These sprays can also be used on metals
such as doorknobs, hinges, and handles. Not recommended for
linoleum, vinyl, or glazed tile. It may have an ambering effect
on light colored surfaces.
PRODUCT APPLICA TION
PAINTING CONDITIONS
Use outdoors or in a well ventilated area such as an open
garage. Use when temperature is between 50ºF (10ºC) and
90ºF (32ºC) and humidity is below 85% to ensure proper
drying. Do not apply to surfaces, when heated, exceed 200ºF
(93ºC). Do not apply to galvanized steel. Avoid spraying in ver y
windy and dusty conditions. Cover surrounding area to protect
from spray mist.
SURFACE PREP ARA TION
Remove all dirt, grease, oil, and chemical contaminants by
washing the surface with a commercial detergent, or other
suitable cleaning method. Rinse with fresh water and allow to
thoroughly dry. Previously coated surfaces must be sound and
in good condition. Smooth, hard, or glossy finishes should be
sanded with #220 grit sandpaper to create a surface profile.
Remove all sanding dust with a vacuum or dampened lint-free
cloth. Surfaces must be completely dry before painting.
APPLICATION
Shake can vigorously for one minute after the mixing ball
begins to rattle. If mixing ball fails to rattle DO NOT STRIKE
CAN. Contact Rust-Oleum. Shake often during use. Hold can
upright 10-16” from surface and spray in a steady back-and-
forth motion, slightly overlapping each stroke. Keep the can

in motion while spraying. Apply two or more light coats a few
minutes apart to avoid drips and runs. Recoat within 1 hour or
after 48 hours; allowing more time in cooler temperatures. Do not
use near open flame.
DRY & RECOAT TIMES
Dry and recoat times are based on 70ºF and 50% rela tive
humidity. Allow more time at cooler temperatures. Dries to touch
in 2 hours and dries hard in 4 hours.
CLEAN-UP
Clean valve immediately after use by turning can upside down and
depressing spray button for 3-5 seconds. Clean-up wet paint with
xylene or mineral spirits. Properly discard empty container. Do not
burn or place in home trash compactor.
CLOGGING
If the valve clogs, twist and pull off spray tip and rinse in a solvent
such as mineral spirits. Do not insert any object into can valve
opening.
