TESTING FOR COATING ADHESION: 1. With a razor blade, cut an X through the coating and down to the concrete. 2. Apply a 5” piece of tape over the X and press down firmly. 3. Completely remove the tape with one quick pull. 4. If more than 10% of the taped area is removed, the original coating is not bonded well and needs to be removed chemically or mechanically with a diamond grinder. Warning If you sand or remove old coatings, you may release lead dust. LEAD IS TOXIC.

is also recommended. If water continues to bead on the surface, re-treat the area again until the beading stops. The water should soak in and penetrate readily to show that the concrete is ready for coating. If there are considerable contaminated areas that require the application of the 100% concentrate of etching solution, it will be necessary to purchase additional RockSolid Safe-Etch™ to complete the etching of the main concrete slab.

TIP: The plastic watering can is key for even distribution of the Safe-Etch. When the frothing stops, rinse off the solution and move on to the next section. When all sections are completed, rinse three times and scrub with a stiff bristle broom while rinsing. To speed up the drying process, use a floor squeegee to push all excess water to the center of the floor then vacuum up. Do not leave pooled water on the floor.

C. Once the material is thoroughly mixed, use a scissors to cut a corner off of the pouch. Then pour the entire contents of the pouch into an empty bucket making sure to squeeze the pouch to remove all the material. Attention MIX ONLY ONE POUCH AND ADD ONLY ONE COLOR SHOT AT A TIME. Add the Color Shot™ by pouring the ENTIRE CONTENTS of the container into the mixing bucket, use a paint stick to scrape the sides to get all of the tint out.

Partial Chip Installation Using RockSolid Decorative Chips Once a strip across the entire back wall has been coated, you may broadcast the RockSolid Floors Decorative Chip™ if desired. Do so by grabbing small pinches of chip between your index finger and thumb and throwing it up in the air over the wet coating. The density or coverage of the chip thrown should be kept consistent throughout the floor for the most uniform finish. It will be important when broadcasting the chip to leave a wet edge.

mixing instructions continued Attention MIX ONLY ONE POUCH AND ADD ONLY ONE COLOR SHOT AT A TIME. Add the Metallic Color Tint™ by pouring the ENTIRE CONTENTS of the container into the mixing bucket. Using a paddle mixer and a drill, thoroughly mix the tint in for 30-60 seconds. Make sure to scrape the sides of the bucket with supplied paint stick to ensure all components and tint are thoroughly mixed together during the mixing process.

Cure Time Depending on temperature and humidity, (based on 80°F, 50% humidity) the average cure time is 8-10 hours for foot traffic, 24 hours for heavy use. Due to the varying nature of vehicle tires and temperature swings, drive on times may vary. It is recommended to wait at least 36 hours for vehicle traffic. Lower temperatures will require longer cure times. The coating will need to be dry to allow foot traffic before applying an optional clear topcoat.

Optional Clear Top Coat When applying the RockSolid Diamond Coat® as a top coat, it must be applied within 7 days of the Chip, Metallic or Color System application. Attention RockSolid Anti-Slip™ additive or a small amount of clean, dry silica sand is recommended for a non-slip surface. The Diamond Coat® will provide extra protection in areas of heavy use or high traffic. Each Diamond Coat™ pouch will cover approximately 300 square feet over a sealed surface.

Frequently Asked Questions Q: When I used the etching solution the A: concrete did not froth. What would cause this? The etching solution needs to come in contact directly with the bare concrete to chemically react and dissolve the thin layer on the surface. This contact can be inhibited by concrete sealers, tire dressing, oil contamination, or existing coatings. SOLUTION – Typically preparing the surface by mechanical means such as diamond grinding or aggressive sanding can remove the sealers, etc.

Frequently Asked Questions (continued) Q: I got some of the coating on my skin, how Q: How can the coating be done in sections? A: can it be removed? Protective gloves are to be worn during the application phase, but it is understandable to get some on your arms or clothes while applying the material. SOLUTION – If you can catch the material before it cures (within 15-20 minutes of the occurrence) it can be removed using a solvent such as MEK or acetone.
