DESCRIPTION AND USES
Rust-Oleum
®
Chalked Decorative Glaze allows you to add a
custom antiqued finish to any Chalked painted surface. This
semi-transparent Decorative Glaze has good workability
allowing you to customize your handcrafted, final look.
Chalked Decorative Glazes enhance the details of: • surface
texture • wood grain • corners • crevices & more. Ideal for
any aerosol or brush Chalked painted surfaces such as
wood, laminate, melamine or metal surfaces.

PRODUCT APPLICATION
Use in a well ventilated area such as an open garage. Apply
when temperature is between 50°F (10°C) and 90°F (32°C)
and humidity is below 65% to ensure proper drying. Avoid
spraying in very windy, dusty conditions. Cover the
surrounding area to protect from spray mist.
SURFACE PREPARATION
Remove all dirt, grease, oil, salt and chemical contaminants
by washing the surface with soap and water and let dry.
Remove loose paint and rust with a wire brush or sandpaper.
Lightly sand glossy surfaces. Remove any wax by lightly
wiping the surface with mineral spirits.
WARNING! If you scrape, sand or remove old paint from any
surface, you may release lead paint dust. LEAD IS TOXIC.
EXPOSURE TO LEAD DUST CAN CAUSE SERIOUS
ILLNESS, SUCH AS BRAIN DAMAGE; ESPECIALLY IN
CHILDREN. PREGNANT WOMEN SHOULD ALSO AVOID
EXPOSURE. Wear a NIOSH approved respirator to control
lead exposure. Clean up carefully with a HEPA vacuum and
a wet mop.

APPLICATION
Allow the Chalked base coat to dry 2 hours before applying
Decorative Glaze. Shake can vigorously for one minute after
mixing ball begins to rattle. Shake often during use. If mixing
ball fails to rattle DO NOT STRIKE CAN. Contact Rust-
Oleum. Working in small sections hold can upright 10-12"
from surface and spray in a steady back-and-forth motion
using light coats to achieve desired appearance covering
corners, crevices and raised panel sections. While Glaze is
still wet, use a cheesecloth or lint free rag, wipe the surface
to remove the Chalked Decorative Glaze to desired look. A
small amount of mineral spirits on a rag will assist in Glaze
removal and customization. On wood surfaces, wipe off in
the direction of the wood grain.
DRY & RECOAT
Dry and recoat times are based on 70°F (21°C) and 50%
relative humidity. Allow more time at cooler temperatures.
Dries to the touch in 1 hour and is dry to handle in 2 hours.
May be recoated with in an 1 hour or after 24 hours. The
finish coat is fully dry in 24 hours. NOTE: Chalked Clear
Protective Topcoat can be applied for added protection.
Apply according to the label instructions.
DISTRESSING
This paint can be distressed if desired. To distress the
surface, lightly sand the surface with fine to medium grit
sandpaper or a sanding sponge. Wait 2 hours before
sanding or distressing.
CLEAN-UP
Wipe off tip before storing. Clean-up wet paint with xylene or
mineral spirits. Properly discard empty container. Do not
burn or place in home trash compactor.
CLOGGING
If the valve clogs, twist and pull off spray tip and rinse in a
solvent such as mineral spirits. Do not insert any object into
can valve opening.
