ROOF COATING
Form: GDH-1162
Rev.: 092421
DESCRIPTION AND USES
Rust-Oleum
®
510 Fibered Aluminum Roof Coating is a
metallic pigmented coating used for rust-proofing and
weatherproofing metal roofs and sidewalls, and as a
reflective coating for built-up roofing (BUR) and modified
bitumen roof systems. Rust-Oleum 510 Fibered Aluminum
Roof Coating reflects heat, prevents corrosion and protects
against mild acid and alkali fumes on a variety of substrates,
including metal, transite, built-up roofing and modified
bitumen. This reflective coating protects low and steep slope
roofs from harmful UV damage while supporting overall
energy efficiency.
PRODUCT FEATURES
Delivers a waterproof seal
Cool Roof Technology - 53% reflectivity which will save
up to 2% in energy costs*
Self Primes over tight rust
7 Year warranty
Use for metal, built-up and modified bitumen roofing
* US Department of Energy cites research on energy.gov
showing energy savings as a benefit of cool roof coatings.

PRODUCT APPLICATION
SURFACE PREPARATION
All surfaces must be clean and free from dirt, grease, oil,
mold, algae, loose granules, loose paint, rust, excess chalk
and other foreign matter which could prevent proper
adhesion. Use a high pressure wash of at least 2,000 psi.
Clean with Rust-Oleum Krud Kutter
®
Original Cleaner
Degreaser, or other suitable cleaner to remove all grease or
oily deposits. Seams should be sealed and waterproofed and
roof penetrations should be flashed prior to applying the
topcoat.
METAL: Rust and flaking or peeling paint shall be wire
brushed, scraped or pressure washed to ensure a sound
surface. No priming is necessary. Seams, fasteners and
protrusions shall be repaired as needed.
BUR/Modified Bitumen: Torn flashings, faulty copings,
parapet walls, large blisters and surface breaks shall be
repaired prior to application.
WARNING! If you scrape, sand or remove old paint, you may release
lead dust. LEAD IS TOXIC. EXPOSURE TO LEAD DUST CAN
CAUSE SERIOUS ILLNESS, SUCH AS BRAIN DAMAGE,
ESPECIALLY IN CHILDREN. PREGNANT WOMEN SHOULD ALSO
AVOID EXPOSURE. Wear a NIOSH-Approved respirator to control
lead exposure. Clean up carefully with a HEPA vacuum and a wet
mop. Before you start, find out how to protect yourself and your family
by contacting the National Lead Information Hotline at 1-800-424-
LEAD or log on to www.epa.gov/lead.
MIXING INSTUCTIONS
SHAKER: 2 three minute cycles with a 5 gallon gyroscopic
mixer.
DRILL: Use a 5 gallon jiffy mixer, taking care to incorporate
all aluminum flake that accumulates at the bottom of the pail.
NOTE: Fully mixed product will have a smooth consistency
and will appear silvery bronze in the pail, quickly turning to
bright silver once drill stops.
APPLICATION
Apply only when air, material, and surface temperatures are
between 50-100ºF (10-38ºC) and the relative humidity is
below 85%. Mix with a power assisted mechanical mixer
before use. Mix until the coating is smooth and consistent.
Rust-Oleum 510 Fibered Aluminum Roof Coating can be
spray, roll or brush applied.
