ATTENTION: The installation of the Clear Top

Coat in a Garage or any damp environment

will require the use of anti-slip to increase the

slip-resistance.

or breathing problems or prior reaction

to solvents must not be exposed to vapor

or spray mist. Use only with adequate

FIRST AID MEASURES

EYE CONTACT: In case of contact, ush

eyes with plenty of lukewarm water. Get

medical attention if irritation develops.

SKIN CONTACT: In case of skin contact,

wash affected areas with soap and water.

Immediately remove contaminated clothing

and shoes. Seek medical attention if irritation

develops and persists. Thoroughly clean

shoes before reuse.

INHALATION: If inhaled, remove to fresh

air. If not breathing, give articial respiration.

If breathing is difcult, give oxygen. Get

medical attention if irritation develops.

INGESTION: If ingested, do not induce

vomiting unless directed to do so by medical

personnel. Do not give anything by mouth to

an unconscious person.

CONDITIONS: Before you begin the

process of preparing the oor for coating it is

important to follow the tests below to ensure

proper coating adhesion.

ATTENTION: Do not apply in direct sunlight.

TESTING FOR SEALER: You need to

determine if the concrete has been previously

sealed by utilizing a simple test of pouring

a small amount of water onto the surface in

various areas of the oor. If the water beads,

a sealer is present and needs to be either

chemically or mechanically removed with a

diamond grinder available at a local rental

PREVIOUSLY COATED FLOORS: If the

oor has been previously coated, you need

to determine if the coating is well adhered

to the surface. If it is, you can coat over the

previous coating if you completely de-gloss

the surface using 40-80 grit sand paper and

wipe the surface down with MEK. Please

make sure to wear the proper protective

equipment and follow the manufacturer’s

instructions.

Mechanical grinding will be necessary to

remove coatings that show any signs of

delamination from the surface. If the existing

coating is failing in any way (peeling,

chipping, aking, etc.) RockSolid Floors

highly recommends removing the entire

coating and starting the application process

with fresh, clean, dry concrete. Contact

your local hardware store for information on

grinder rental.

TESTING FOR COATING ADHESION: 1. With a razor blade, cut an X through the coating and down to the concrete. 2. Apply a 5” piece of tape over the X and press down firmly. 3. Completely remove the tape with one quick pull. 4. If more than 10% of the taped area is removed, the original coating is not bonded well and needs to be removed chemically or mechanically with a diamond grinder WARNING If you sand or remove old coatings, you may release lead dust. Lead is toxic.

MURATIC ACID: Muriatic Acid is just that, an acid. It is harmful to use and harmful to the environment. The health and environmental impact of Muriatic Acid is not the only reason why RockSolid chooses to use an alternative etching solution. Muriatic Acid can have a negative impact on the condition of your concrete as well. Improper or lack of NEUTRALIZATION of the surface once you are finished etching will result in a high pH level in your concrete that can cause premature failure of any coating system.

C. Once the material is thoroughly mixed, use a scissors to cut a corner off of the pouch. Then pour contents of the pouch into a paint tray. Any left-over material can stay in the pouch until needed. Use the Polycuramine Clear Top Coat box to hold the pouch until needed. Use a 3” brush to cut in around the edges. Use ONLY a 3/8” nap, de-linted, high quality roller cover. Fully saturate the roller and roll out in an M and W pattern to spread the material.

Frequently Asked Questions Q: When I used the etching solution the A: concrete did not froth. What would cause this? The etching solution needs to come in contact directly with the bare concrete to chemically react and dissolve the thin layer on the surface. This contact can be inhibited by concrete sealers, tire dressing, oil contamination, or existing coatings. SOLUTION – Typically preparing the surface by mechanical means such as diamond grinding or aggressive sanding can remove the sealers, etc.

Frequently Asked Questions (continued) Q: I got some of the coating on my skin, how Q: How can the coating be done in sections? A: can it be removed? Protective gloves are to be worn during the application phase, but it is understandable to get some on your arms or clothes while applying the material. SOLUTION – If you can catch the material before it cures (within 15-20 minutes of the occurrence) it can be removed using a solvent such as MEK or acetone.
