TUB & TILE AEROSOL is a one-step solution that provides
outstanding adhesion, durability and color retention in high moisture areas. This
smooth, glossy, waterproof finish is perfect for tiles, sinks and tubs. Note: Proper
surface cleaning and preparation are key to a smooth, lasting finish. Follow all
directions carefully and completely.
Painting Conditions: Use in a well-ventilated area when the temperature is between
50˚F - 100˚F, and humidity is below 80% to ensure proper drying. Not for use on
galvanized metal or other metal surfaces. Preparation: Remove metal drains.
Remove any loose paint with a wire brush or sandpaper. Repair chips or cracks with
a patching compound such as Liquid Steel
®
. Eliminate mildew from the surface by
treating with a solution of bleach and water. Repeat if necessary. Rinse thoroughly
with water. Scrub surface with an abrasive pad and abrasive cleaner such as Comet
®
to remove all dirt, grease, mold, oil, soap film and hard water deposits. Remove
caulk and wipe areas with a non-oily solvent such as isopropyl alcohol. Scrub with
an abrasive pad and Lime-A-Way
®
cleaner to create a slightly porous surface for
strong adhesion. Allow to stand for 5 minutes. Scrub the entire surface again and
rinse with water. Sand the surface with #400/600 grit wet/dry sandpaper. Rinse
thoroughly with water to remove all residue. Allow the surface to dry for at least 90
minutes before applying paint. Wipe with a tack cloth immediately before painting to
remove all dust and lint. Always test product in a small, hidden area before painting.
Painting: Open any windows or use fans to properly ventilate the area. Shake can
vigorously for one minute after mixing ball begins to rattle. If mixing ball fails to
rattle, DO NOT STRIKE CAN. Contact Rust-Oleum. Shake often during use. Hold can
upright 10-16" from surface and spray in a steady back and forth motion, slightly
overlapping each stroke. Keep the can the same distance from the surface. Keep the
can in motion while spraying. Apply 2-3 light coats, spraying horizontally and
vertically. Dry Time: Dries to touch in 15 minutes. Fully cure in 3 days. Clean-Up:
Wipe off tip before storing. Clean up wet paint with Xylol or mineral spirits. Throw
away empty can in trash. Do not burn or place in home trash compactor.
Clogging: If
valve clogs, twist and pull off spray tip and rinse it in a solvent such as mineral spirits. Do
not stick pin or other object into the stem. Coverage: 10-15 sq. ft. for light colored tub/tile.
DANGER! Contains: Acetone and Petroleum Distillates. Harmful or fatal if
swallowed. Call physician immediately. Vapor harmful. Reports have
associated repeated and prolonged occupational overexposure to solvents with
permanent brain and nervous system damage. Intentional misuse by
deliberately concentrating and inhaling contents may be harmful or fatal.
Harmful if absorbed through skin. Vapors may ignite explosively. Keep away
from heat, sparks and flame. Do not smoke. Extinguish all flames and pilot
lights, and turn off stoves, heaters, electric motors and other sources of ignition
during use and until vapors are gone. Prevent build-up of vapors by opening all
windows and doors to achieve cross-ventilation. Use only with adequate
ventilation. Ensure fresh air entry during application and drying. If a window or
fan is not present in the room, place a general room fan 5 feet outside room
doorway to blow fresh air into room. Apply product in 5-minute intervals,
then leave room. Return after 5 minutes. If you experience eye watering,
headache, or dizziness or if air monitoring demonstrates vapor/mist levels are
above applicable limits, wear an appropriate, properly fitted respirator
(NIOSH/MSHA approved) during and after application. Follow respirator
manufacturer’s direction for respirator use. Close container after each use.
Avoid contact with eyes, skin and clothing. Wash thoroughly after handling.
First Aid: If you experience difficulty in breathing, leave the area to obtain fresh
air. If continued difficulty is experienced, get medical assistance immediately. In
case of eye contact, flush immediately with plenty of water for at least 15
minutes and get medical attention, for skin, wash thoroughly with soap and
water. Clean up area with thinner or soap and water. Test surface in small,
hidden area prior to using thinner. WARNING: This product contains chemicals
known to the state of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other
reproductive harm. KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN.
