Read the instructions, keep them safe, pass them on if you pass the kettle on. Remove all packaging before use. A IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS Follow basic safety precautions, including: 1 The kettle must only be used by or under the supervision of a responsible adult. Use and store it out of reach of children. 2 Don’t put the kettle, stand, cable, or plug in liquid. Don’t use the kettle in a bathroom, near water, or outdoors. 3 The scald hazard lasts long after boiling.
U BEFORE USING FOR THE FIRST TIME • Fill to max, boil, discard the water, then rinse, to remove manufacturing dust, etc. C POSITIONING 1 Put the stand on a stable, level surface. 2 Route the cable so it doesn’t overhang, and can’t be caught or tripped over. 3 Wind excess cable beneath the stand. C FILLING 4 Remove the kettle from the stand. 5 Press the lid lock to open the lid. 6 Fill with at least 2 cups of water, but don’t fill above max. 7 If you overfill, the kettle may spit boiling water.
21 When you lift the kettle, you may see moisture on the stand. Don’t worry – it’s the steam used to switch the kettle off automatically, which then condenses and escapes via vents under the kettle. F USING WITH INSUFFICIENT WATER 22 This will shorten the life of the element. 23 To avoid cycling on and off, remove the kettle from the stand and sit it on the work surface till it’s cold.
C WATER FILTER 35 Scale particles suspended in the water may give it a cloudy or greasy appearance. The filter will prevent these particles going into your drink. If you see deposits on the filter, clean it, otherwise the performance of your kettle will drop, your drinks may contain scale, and the water inside the kettle may look cloudy. C CLEANING THE FILTER 36 Check your hands are free from soap, hand cream, or anything which might leave a taint. 37 Switch the kettle off, and let it cool.
