PhoenixOnlineLobby
Onceyouhavesuccessfullysignedintotheonlineservice,youwillbetakentothePhoenixOnlinelobbyscreen.This
menu connects you will Phoenix pilots all over the world, and acts as a matchmaking service to help you find
availablesessionsclosetoyourlocation.
AvailableSessionsList
TotheleftofthemenuistheAvailableSessionList.ThiscontainsalistofallPhoenixsessionsthatotherpilotshave
created. The list is divided into two main categories: Local Sessions and InternetSessions.Localsessions arethose
foundonyourLocalAreaNetwork(LAN),whileInternetSessionsarethosefoundonline,ontheinternet.
TheInternetSessionscategory issortedby locationtomakefinding asessionclose toyoueasier. Whenjoiningan
online session, it is always advisable to join one that is as close to you geographically as possible, as these will
typically have less lag while makes the session smoother and more enjoyable as well as avoiding any language
difficultiesthatmayarisefromflyinginasessionlocatedinanothercountry.
When you place your mouse cursor over any session in this list, a description will appear to the right in a special
tooltipframe.Thiscontainsdetailsonthesessionsuchasthesessionname,addressandhostingusername.Youcan
alsoseethecurrentsession state such as the flying site, number of pilots and competition mode underway.Ifthe
sessionhasapasswordset,thiswillappearatthebottomofthedetailstooltip.
TheChatWindow
The larger panel to the right of the Online Lobby menu is the Lobby Chat Wi ndow. Any Phoenix pilot who is not
alreadyflyinginanonlinesessionappearsinthelobbychatwindow,andisabletochatwithallotherpilotscurrently
inthelobby.Thisisusefulformeetingandarrangingnewsessions.
Ifyouseeamessagein this panelinformingyou“MasterServernotfound”,pleasecheckthatyourcomputeris
successfully connected to the internet and any firewalls or viruschecking software you may have has been
configuredtoallowPhoenixaccesstotheinternet.
Whenanewpilotjoinsthelobby,anotificationappearsinthechatwindow,andtheiravatarandusernameappears
inthepanelalongthebottomofthechatwindowscreen.Anychatmessagestheytypewillnowappearinthechat
window,alongsidetheirusernameandasmallversionoftheiravatar.
You can chat with the other lobby users by clicking in the editboxmarked “<Type a message here>”, typing your
message,andtheneitherclickingtheSendbuttontotheright,orpressing<ENTER>onyourkeyboard.Youcantype
amultilinemessageby pressing<CT RL +ENTER>tostartanewlinewhentypingamessage.
When chatting with other online users, please be civil. The online system will filter any perceived swearwords
automatically,butweaskthatallusersrefrainfromusingcourseorthreateninglanguage.
JoiningaSession
When you have located a suitable session that you wish to join, select it by leftclicking with your mouse in the
AvailableSessionsList,andthenpresstheJoinSessionbuttonbelow.Phoenixwillthenattempttojointhesession,
andastatusbarwillinformyouoftheprogress.
If the session is passwordprotected, a notification will appear and you will be asked to enter the password to
continuejoiningthesession.Youmustknowthepasswordbeforehandtobeabletojointhesession.
If the session is successfully joined, you will be taken to the Main View, and the other pilotswho are flying in the
sessionwillappear.
Ifaproblemoccurredwhenjoiningthesession(suchasthesessionisfull)youwillbeinformedofthisandtakenby
totheOnlineLobbymenu.
