• Noauto‐restart–Whenanyimpactordamageoccurs,donotresetthemodel.Whenthissettingisselected,
youwillneedtousetheResetModelHotkey(default=“B”)toresetthemodel,orassignachannelonyour
radiototheResetModelControlandactivatethis.
• Atidlethrottle – When anyimpact or damage occurs, do not reset the model until the user has put their
throttlebacktotheidleposition(minimumstick).Thisisusefultolearntodowhenflyingareal‐lifemodelto
avoidaccidentscausedbystartingthemodelwiththrottle.
Startengine/rotorsatthrot tlespeed
ThisoptiontellsPhoenixtostarttherotorsofahelicopter,orthepropelleronafixed‐wingmodelinstantlyspinning
atthecorrectspeedforyourthrottlestickpositionafteramodelreset,savingtimewaitingforthemtospoolup.
Display
Thissectioncontainsallofthesettingsandoptionsrelatedtothegraphicalpresentationofthesoftware.Hereyou
canadjustoptionstoimprovegraphicalqualityattheexpenseofperformance.
GraphicsQuality
Thisslider isanoverallcontrolforchangingmanyotherparametersatthesametimeeasilyandquickly.Unlessyou
arean advanceduser, weusuallyrecommendchangingthis sliderinsteadof themore advancedindividualoptions
below.
Settingthisslidertothe“Low”(left‐han d)settingwillsetallgraphicalqualityoptionstotheirlowestsetting. Thiswill
mean that there is less demand placed on the graphics‐card and CPU, therefore improving the smoothness of the
simulationonlower‐specificationgraphicshardware.
Asyouincreasetheslideruptothe“Highest”setting,thegraphicalqualitywillincreasegradually,butmoredemand
willbeplacedonthegraphics‐cardandCPU.
Highergraphical qualitysettingsshouldonlybeusedwhenmoremodern/expensivegraphicshardwareisinstalledin
yourcomputer,oryoumayfindthesimulationbecomeslesssmooth.Wewouldusuallyrecommendstartingatthe
“Medium”setting,testingthesimulationforsmoothness,andthenincreasingordecreasingthegraphicsqualityby
onestepuntilyouarehappywithboththequalityandsmoothness.
Fullscreenmode
ThesesettingscontrolthefullscreenmodeofPhoenix.
Phoenix can be run in the default nor mal Windowed mode where the Windows Title Bar and Start Menu can be
seen.Thismodeisuseful ifyouswitchwindowsonaregularbasiswhilePhoenixisstillrunning(i.e.tocheckemails
orrunamusicplayerinthebackground).
However,youcanalso choosetorunPhoenixinFullscreenmode,wherethesimulatorwilltakeuptheentirescreen.
Thisimprovesthegeneralimmersivenessofthesimulation,andalsoprovidesperformancebenefits,allowingyouto
run the program with higher graphics quality settings than you would be able to in Windowed mode, while still
maintainingprogramsmoothness.
If you do not regularly switch to other Windows while using Phoenix, we would recommend running in Fullscreen
mode.TheHotkeyforchangingbetweenWindowedandFullscreenmode is ALT+ENTER.
Thefirstdrop ‐downboxunderthissectionistheFullscreenResolution.Thisletsyouselectthegraphical“clarity”of
the display mode used when in Fullscreen mode. A higher setting means that more pixels will be used, giving the
modelasharperlook.Thisisgenerallysettothehighestavailablesetting, oralternativelytothesamesettingasyou
haveyourWindowsDesktopsetto.
