Ruger Celebrates the 40th Anniversary of the
Ruger 10/22® and its Rotary Magazine
Nearly 40 years ago, Sturm, Ruger introduced a rimfire autoloading
carbine that set a new standard for performance, reliability and accuracy.
Built to the same big game rifle standards as the famous Ruger 44
Magnum Carbine, the Ruger 10/22 and its legendary rotary magazine
represented a major advance in rimfire rifle design. A 1964 Ruger
advertisement for the 10/22 boldly advertised, “The 10/22 is no ordinary
rifle – it had to be the best in every detail.” Described as “the ultimate in
logical design,” the 10/22 was destined to become one of the most popular
autoloading rimfire rifles ever produced. Since its introduction in 1964,
there have been over 4 million Ruger 10/22 Carbines produced.
Sturm, Ruger is also celebrating the 40-year
anniversary of its patented ten-round detachable
rotary magazine. In addition to the standard
black magazine included with all Ruger 10/22’s,
each 40th Anniversary Ruger 10/22 Carbine
includes a unique 40
th
Anniversary clear
magazine with a red rotor. This special
anniversary edition magazine provides
customers the opportunity to see the internal
features of this legendary design. Ruger’s unique rotary
magazine makes the 10/22 easier to handle and provides for a cleaner
appearance, with no awkward protrusions at the rifle’s balance point. It
has been widely hailed as the best and most reliable rimfire rifle magazine
in history.
Sturm, Ruger is proud to introduce this 40th Anniversary Edition of its
famous 10/22 Carbine. This special autoloading rimfire carbine is very
similar to its original configuration, and includes a 22 tip-off scope base
adapter, barrel band and a western-style curved buttplate. It also features
the Ruger eagle symbol on a special two-inch nickel-silver medallion
inlaid into its hardwood stock.
