Checking the SocketServer Version

SocketServer refers to the web page that is integrated in the firmware that comes pre-

installed on your DeviceMaster platform, which provides an interface to TCP/IP socket

mode configuration and services.

Comtrol recommends verifying that your DeviceMaster contains the latest SocketServer

version before setting up the secure COM port redirector or configuring socket ports to

avoid installation problems.

Note: It is not necessary to update SocketServer if you plan on using an NS-Link device

driver.

Use the following procedure to check the SocketServer version on the DeviceMaster.

1. If necessary, start PortVision Plus and scan the network.

2. Check the SocketServer version number of the Software Version for the DeviceMaster.

3. Check the Comtrol web site to see if a later version

is available.

4. If the version on the web site is later than the version on the DeviceMaster, download

the file and then go to Uploading SocketServer

on Page 37.

If the SocketServer version on the DeviceMaster is current, you are ready to start

setting up the secure COM ports redirector or to configure the sockets using the

SocketServer web page. Use the appropriate discussion to complete the

DeviceMaster configuration process.
