Previewing a DVD-Video
You can preview a DVD-Video disc prior to burning an actual disc by
saving it as a disc image file and then using the Toast Image mounter.
To preview the DVD:
1 Instead of recording, click the Save As Disc Image button.
2 Select your disc image and choose Utilities > Mount Disc Image.
Tip: You can also select the image, Control-click and choose Mount It.
Note For more information, see Saving Disc Images on page 35
and Mounting Disc Images on page 36.
The DVD is mounted on the Desktop. Use the DVD Player software
included with Mac OS X to preview it.
If you are satisfied with the results, use the Image Copy format to record it.
See Copying a Disc Image File on page 123.
Making a High Definition DVD
High-Definition DVD is a unique type of video disc which allows you to
create author HD video to DVD, for playback in true high definition. This
gives you the ability to create HD video discs without owning a Blu-ray
Disc™ recorder. Although you are recording to standard DVD discs with
this project, you can only view the finished project on a Blu-ray Disc™
player such as the PlayStation® 3. This type of project is ideal for creating
video discs from your AVCHD camcorder.
A standard single-layer DVD can hold approximately 30 minutes of HD
video and a dual-layer DVD can hold approximately one hour of HD video.
While Toast will allow you to add more than these lengths of video, adding
additional video requires that video be compressed further and results in a
lower quality video. These discs offer full menu navigation and are created
in much the same way that DVD-Video or Blu-ray Video projects are with
the same options available.
