Intended Use • Roughneck’s Professional Air-Operated Grease Gun is used to force lubricant out of the coupler into the grease fitting. • Heavy-duty aluminum die cast head with internal bore precision honed for rapid action. • Ergonomic pistol grip and acute angle design is provided for ease of operation, especially in narrow spaces. • Discharges grease continuously with the trigger being pressed.

This safety precaution allows for proper tool operation using both hands. ⚠CAUTION GREASE GUN USE AND CARE • Do not force the grease gun. Products are safer and do a better job when used in the manner for which they are designed. Plan your work, and use the correct product for the job. • Check for damaged parts before each use. Carefully check that the product will operate properly and perform its intended function.
Main Parts of Grease Gun Subassembly 1. Gun head 2. Grease gun barrel 3. Trigger 4. Inlet valve / male quick connect coupler 5. Rigid steel extension 6. Grease coupler Assembly Instructions Setting up the Grease Gun Head (Refer to the Parts Diagram.) Note: Use Teflon tape while connecting rigid steel extension (38) to the gun head (1) and grease coupler (37) to the rigid steel extension (38). 1. Connect the rigid steel extension (38) to the outlet of gun head (1).
2. Thread tighten the grease coupler (37) to the other end of the rigid steel extension (38). 3. All connections should be tight. ⚠WARNING • Grease or empty cartridge in barrel is under pressure from the internal spring, be alert when removing head of the barrel. • Do not apply excessive torque or over-tighten the grease gun head as this will apply undue stress to the die cast outlet and may cause it to fracture. Loading the Grease Gun 1. Make sure the gun is disconnected from the air supply. 2.
4. Remove any empty cartridges. Always follow the steps listed above in preparing to load your grease gun before proceeding to the one of the following loading methods. There are three ways to load the grease gun: • Cartridge Loading • Bulk Fill • Filler Pump Loading Cartridge Loading 1. Completely draw back the plunger handle and lock it in place. 2. Remove the gun head (1) from the grease gun barrel (23) by turning it counter-clockwise. 3.
5. Reassemble the gun head (1) to the grease gun barrel (23) by turning it clockwise. Bulk Fill 1. Completely draw back the plunger handle and lock it in place. 2. Remove the gun head (1) from the grease gun barrel (23) by turning it counter-clockwise. 3. Fill the gun barrel (23) with grease using a spatula or grease scooper. 4. Reassemble the gun head (1) with the grease gun barrel (23) by turning it clockwise. Filler Pump Loading 1. Completely draw back the plunger handle and lock it in place. 2.
3. Operate the filler pump to fill the grease gun barrel (23). 4. Disconnect the grease gun from the filler pump. Removing Trapped Air After filling grease gun, trapped air should be removed using these steps: 1. After filling the grease gun barrel (23) with grease by any one method described previously, while reassembling the gun, keep at least 2-3 turns open. 2. Press the lock lever and release the plunger rod. Push down on the plunger handle. 3.
1. Connect the air hose to the air inlet (8) on the grease gun. 2. The grease coupler (37) provided at the end of the extension (38) has a jaw-type construction. The coupler jaws will snap on to a grease fitting and maintain a tight fit. 3. When connecting the grease coupler (37) to the grease fitting, press the grease coupler (37) straight onto the grease fitting to form a snug fit. 4. Start operating the grease gun with the grease coupler (37) as aligned to the grease fitting as possible. 5.
Troubleshooting ⚠WARNING • Disconnect from air supply before changing accessories, cleaning, or servicing. Use the following table to troubleshoot problems before contacting service personnel or your local dealer. If the problem continues after troubleshooting, call your local dealer for assistance. Failure Gun pumps little or no grease. Possible Cause Corrective Action Barrel is not completely tightened. Tighten the barrel completely. Air pockets are trapped in grease.
