Operation Manual
ROTWILD 2006/2007 – Ä nderungen vorbehalten / Subject to change / 55
► Gear shift systems
► ► Derailleur gears
If correctly maintained, good derailleur gears are very efficient, and allow the realisa-
tion of almost any gear ratio. However, they do require care and maintenance (see
the appropriate section).
This manual also contains a manufacturer’s instruction supple-
ment. Please read this carefully before your first ride, or find the
information online.
The addresses can be found in the list in chapter 10 of this
manual.
Derailleur gears on ROTWILD MTBs/Racing
bikes are delivered correctly adjusted by the
manufacturer or your dealer. However, con-
trol cable stretching may make it necessary
to perform further adjustments later on,
particularly when your bike is new. In the
case of derailleur gears, it is important to
consider that not all theoretically possible
ratios should actually be used. Because, if
the chain is constantly running in a diagonal,
the wear on chain and gear rings is particu-
larly high and reduces efficiency.
Please follow our gear changing recommen-
dations! The following combinations should
be avoided:
· Largest chain ring with largest rear
sprocket
· Smallest chain ring with smallest rear
sprocket Chain
A straighter chain line means less wear.
► ► Hub gears – Rohloff
If you prefer to use hub gears from Rohloff,
we can provide a special dropout inlay with
integrated brake torque support. You can
easily exchange this for your standard inlay.
