7.1.8. Note the COM number that has been assigned to the device. The COM number

will be necessary when connecting to the 1673 RFD Configuration

7.1.9. The assigned COM number must be between 1 and 16 for compatibility with the

1673 RFD Configuration Software. Note that the computer reserves COM assignments for

previously installed serial devices even if they are no longer attached to the computer. This

can cause COM numbers greater than 16 to be assigned. If the assigned COM number is

greater than 16, it must be manually reassigned to a value between 1 and 16.

7.1.10. To manually reassign the COM number, right click on its entry in the ‘Ports (COM &

LPT)’ listing. Then click the ‘Advanced’ button on the Port Settings tab.
