THE USE OF IGMP DOES NOT REPLACE THE NEED IN DEFINING STATIC ROUTES FOR GROUP NETWORKS/ADDRESSES IN
THE ROUTING TABLE.
2.10.8 L2 bridging
Bridging allows transfer of non-IP packets through UHP networks and transparent merging of Ethernet segments
through satellite channels. Bridging always works on some VLAN. Packets tagged with this VLAN are bridged, not
routed. Other VLANs can be routed. Several VLANs can work in bridge mode concurrently. VLAN 0 (untagged) can
also be bridged.
Traffic received on one side of satellite link with one VLAN on the other side of the link can be passed to the LAN
with different VLAN or untagged and vice versa.
In bridge mode all traffic entering the router is transmitted on another side. MAC filtering and learning is not
performed as attached Ethernet switch already performs this functions.
If VLAN (including VLAN 0 (untagged) ) is set to bridging it blocks any IP access to the router from this VLAN so
additional VLAN with IP address should be used for such access.
Commands for bridging set-up:
bridge map ml|mm|mh|md 1-1020 [0-500] [1-1020]- Bridge VLAN to TX SVLAN [TrSh]
Bridge selected VLAN to the satellite. Other parameters are analogous to ip map command. On the
other side it is enough to issue a command svlan receive … to perform traffic pass to the LAN.
UHP router supports 802.1p (VLAN priority bits). If the bridge map is configured using the MD queue,
then tagged frames will be automatically reallocated to the output queue according to the static
levels of priority:
0, 1 - low
2, 3 - med
4, 5, 6, 7 - high
bridge delete [1-1020] - Delete bridged VLAN [VLAN]
Remove bridging from selected VLAN.
In general bridging can be realized in the following manner: on the Hub Ethernet switch is attached to UHP router
via trunk port. Some ports of the switch work in port-based VLAN mode and their traffic is tagged and passed to
the hub router. Router bridges the traffic to remotes.
2.10.9 DHCP protocol
DHCP allows automatic IP addresses assignment to the network hosts. It also allows passing additional parameters
like default gateway and DNS server addresses. Current realization works only on VLAN 0 (untagged).
---------- DHCP parameters
dhcp mode off|on - Protocol state
Turns DHCP on or off..
dhcp range IP_ADDR IP_ADDR - IP address range for DHCP
Defines IP address range for DHCP.
dhcp dns IP_ADDR IP_ADDR - DNS servers list
Sets IP addresses of DNS servers to pass to the clients.
DHCP settings and statistics can be printed by “show dhcp” command.
